ok ok the laptop hopper is at it again, just made my m15x purchase, and hopefully my last laptop purchase for a loooong time.

I will upgrade the HDD and Memory myself, through newegg.

 

You should go cheap on the processor, so you can buy an X9000 or T9500 from eBay.

 

Upgrading the processor voids the warranty though . . .

Congrats on the machine. I like your config, it is beastly.

 

You can still save some money... T9500 is nothing but overclocked T9300 go for T9300 and save some quick bucks. I bet you wont even notice the difference in T9300 and T9500 ... even x9000 is just overclocked.

 

I went cheap on memory and HD, i don't want to build the whole thing myself, haha.

better get a 4gb ultra high speed memory stick and use it for readyboost. that can really improve your performance when compared to just 1gb turbo memory which is nothing but wastage of money

 

It will fit in your backpack for sure.

I strongly recommend buying a nice sleeve for the notebook. I suggest one from WaterField Designs:

ohhh boy. I really dont want to be the one breaking it down for ya. Just look around the alienware forum and especially the m15x threads

 

The one last problem with the m15x now is the hinge. It does feel rather flimsy and the lid creaks when you open it. This has resulted in about 20 cases of busted hinges from NBR.

No but seriously, thanks MastaMarek, but it seems to me with everything you buy, there usually comes some risk, like my new 08 Dodge Avenger, (Yeah, I wanted the Charger). But I've gone through 5? 6? maybe 7 laptops in the last 5 months, and the whole time, all I wanted was the m15x, and I'm the type that needs to learn from my mistakes. so far in loss of shipping/shipping back fees I've lost a few hundred. Now knowing that AW has a 15% restocking fee, it will prohibit me from sending it back because I don't like it. So this will be the last one, last time. thankfully, at least my wife sure hopes so, haha.

Whoa, I just reread this post, and realized that you've paid +$275 for just a .1 Ghz difference. My wife would hurt me for something like that.
