ok so alienware are the topend of laptops next to dell and so on, so i posted a thread in the gaming part of this website about my performance issues with my Dell XPS M1730 (specs are in the signature) so i bought halo which its needs are 733 MHz and my comps got dual core 2.2Ghz so it shoudl handle even the most intense of battles with ease but it dosent its slow and laggy i checked the temp and they are as follows

    GPU - 71 C (159F)
    Core 0 - 71 C (159F)
    Core 1 - 73 C (163F)
    ACPI - 73 C (162F)

there around 50 on desktop which is pretty high and is causing me some concern, i thought it was dwm.exe which it wasnt so i was wondering if you guys had any thoughts on it?

Those temps look great :) You're well within reason. A desktop has a lot more room to cool. But, running low 70s is awesome for a gaming rig. If you're hitting high 80s and low 90s..then begin to have concern :)

for temps: 95+ (deg. C) is where you should really concern yourself....

safe temps for GPUs: up to 105 deg. C
safe temps for CPUs: up to ~95 deg. C

the chips will automatically downclock if they get too hot. unless you override their internal temperature safeties...

yeah. we do. we've seen problematic temps. some people with the m15x and a 8800M GTX card, in the early days, were up over 100 deg. while gaming (on the GPU)...

THAT was a problem. the new management profiles in recently released BIOS's have fixed the problem and now most cap out around 85-90, then the fans kick into "full nuclear reactor" mode where they make a heck of a lot more noise than they normally do, but do a good job of making sure that heat gets dissipated.
