i've got me some jerky playback thru itunes and quicktime on my shiny new m15x. I've tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers (156.53) and itunes, but this hasn't helped. One thing is that thanks to the dodgy touch buttons my machine is pretty much permanently stuck in stealth mode...would this be responsible for the stuttery playback? My cpu doen't seem to be maxing out during playback, though (checking with Task Manager and cpu-z)...

You could try VLC media player, it's a free download and uses less resources than iTunes and Quicktime. It cn play pretty much everything...

Regardless of what application you use, theres something funny going on if its lagging in them, compared to the power of the m15x the applications don't/shouldn't use much.

Eg. I've a ten year old compaq in the attick, It doesn't lag whilst running those (and other) applications at the same time.

Im' thinking "my machine is pretty much permanently stuck in stealth mode" might be causing your CPU and GPU to be really slow...

Might be worth shutting it down and gently rubbing over the touch keys with a damp cloth, might release the button, or try new drivers?

all of my touch keys apart from the stealth mode button work flawlessly, but that last one is pretty stubborn...

I wondered whether it was the cpu slowing down in stealth mode, but Task Manager shows it running at about 90% capacity during playback even when stealth is on, and i still have lousy playback when it's off.

to top it all, my ancient hp tablet doesn't seem to have problems playing the same movies, and it's like a gazillion times slower than the m15x...

i'll try finding a newer version of the drivers...anyone know what version number is best for the 8700m gt?

    thanks for your help guys.

well, i've tried updating my video drivers (to 163.69) and that doesn't seem to help. I've also uninstalled the divx and cccp codecs, just in case they were interfering somehow, but no joy there either...

could it be a problem with the soundcard setup/drivers?
