I just realized that the gpu clocks seem incorrect.. my machine shows 550 for core, however i head and saw everyone with 660 base core... what could it be? i already have it on high performance..

    Thanks in advance..

pd. i installed 9.7 drivers but it dosent seem to change in driver version... still shows 8.5 something.

    yeah something is wrong.
it seems that now instead of using flex's cards from the m17, quanta took over and decided to make there own cards but 100 core drop is very very very bad.
here's a screen shot of gpu-z and vantage. don't mind the overclock just everything else and the default core speed

it seems that you maybe able to flash them and i can give you me bios for it but i don't want to be held responsible for what happens.

i just explained to you why. the card that i was using was by flextronic's which was made in the m17. and the early m15x got them.

but now quanta got a hold of them and decided to shave off 100 off the core. which is stupid to me and i'm sure alot of peopel because of the fact. 100 for ati is a big performance drop. i can give you my bios if you want. but i don't want to be responsiable if you make a mistake

also, notice the differences in subvenders. that's the issue.

and you need 8.10 driver or lower. 9 recommend 8.57-8.10 for overclocking.

    GOD i hope quanta doesn't do this to the 4870 for the m17x :( :( :(

my expectations have now compleltely drop. :(

i was checking and i found out that when they were testing they had this result:

    Burn-In/Benchmarks

    3DMark 2006
    Customer Information-
    3DMark Score- 8,428.00 3DMarks
    SM2.0 Score- 3,544.00
    HDR/SM3.0 Score- 4,250.00
    CPU Score- 1,910.00
    Game Score- 0.00 Points
    SM2.0 Graphics Tests
    GT1 - Return To Proxycon- 29.34 FPS
    GT2 - Firefly Forest- 29.72 FPS
    CPU Tests
    CPU1 - Red Valley- 0.60 FPS
    CPU2 - Red Valley- 0.97 FPS
    HDR/SM3.0 Graphics Tests
    HDR1 - Canyon Flight- 39.63 FPS
    HDR2 - Deep Freeze- 45.37 FPS

Now am getting 7500 not 8500... could it be a configuration thing the reason why am not getting those scores..? i should be getting scores like that since that was from this machine..

One thing I personally don't get is why my core clock is 654MHz and the memory is 846MHz instead of the standard 660MHz and 850MHz. (Sorry to be hijacking the thread, I just wanted to ask that)

I wouldn't really recommend using older drivers to overclock as you gain that performance by using the better drivers anyway in a number of games.

You definetely should flash your card's bios to the Flextronics one.

ya am thinking about just flashing it to 660, but is it like a different card? or just an underclocked card.. that would be horrible -.-

Don, there's a new tool floating around somewhere, or new drivers or something. I'm kinda hungover right now (birthday), so I'm not so clear on which it is...but I've overclocked with 9.6 drivers. You don't have to use 8.10 drivers anymore.
