i ordered my M17x allpowerful a few days ago and plan on overclocking. now would getting an external cooling pad be beneficial, or is it not needed already due to the design of the case, any help is appreciated.

I don't think its necessary, from what I've been reading the temperatures have been way above average.

But I don't have the laptop yet myself, so I cannot say for sure.

    Below ;)

A cooling pad is always good idea, but the M17x has proved the Cooling System is quite adequate and effective. So you so not need to worry about getting a cooler yet.

thanks i was stressin over it cause i didnt want to get one than just have it be a waste but i guess another question is with the vents the way they are on the M17x would a fan blowing in be effective of that even?

air intake is whats is all about.
if you get a cooler, it can only help as it produces cool air for the fans from the unit to suck in to help cool the unit.

yes ill post a picture here.

The vents on the bottom allow air to be sucked up and be pushed out the back so if you did get a notebook cooler it would help.

    there is the picture :

The air is pulled up then pushed out the back.

If all the air was pushed out the bottom it would overheat because the Hot air would just get sucked back up. Also wouldn't be able to use it on you lap.

That pic is what i worked out of Service manual :)

Hope thiis helped. If you need any more help please PM me.
