I reformatted my laptop and installed the drivers. I saw the correct order to install them was not the way I installed them. I did the chipset first then OSD, video, and so on and my last driver was command center. Now my alienware takes a long time when I start it up and Windows Explorer stop working every so often.
Do I have to reformat again? Is there another way around it besides a reformat?

1) Remove all Antivirus. If this makes a difference swtich to Microsoft Security Essentials.
2) Use a registry cleaner (64bit) to defragment, optimize, and clean registry errors. If you are using Roxio you must exclude them from the registry cleaner othewise they will remove essential DLL's. I would also exclude programs like PowerDVD
3) If you did a clean install overtop of a newly formated hard drive than the hard drive should not be fragmented. But later use software called Diskeeper to keep your hardrive degramented. The defrag tool in windows is useless. Dont defrag is you have an SSD.
4) Slow boot times usually mean errors, or missing or incorrect drivers. Make sure you have downloaded the correct drivers for your hardware.
5) Make sure you have up to date bios, and all the latest windows updates. Until your system is stable use Dells recommended video drivers.
6) Make sure you are not missing any drivers.
7) Take a closer look at the install sheet and make sure you havent installed any drivers out of order. -
Windows Vista and 7 might be able to tell you why startup is slow.
