replacement card for m9750?

Hello! I've been reading your threads about the m9750 and potential upgrades/replacements and because I am not a native english speaker I find them confusing. I am sorry.

I am worry about buying the wrong replacement part for my m9750. My video card must be replaced, but alienware does not offer replacement parts any longer.

I have found this website that offers my part I think. Is this part correct?

There is a 3870 in the market place for sale very cheap that will be more powerful then those 2 ... I highly suggest it

 

I'm not sure what country your from but, the M9750 never did came with the 8600M GO series...it was 8700M GT or the 7950 GTX go series. What card is currently in your rig? If you want to say upgrade...as stated by Moo....3870's...kills both!

 

The best card out of those is the Go7950. You will need an SLi cable as well if you don't already have one, and you may have to flash the videocard BIOS on one to slave (they are both master cards).

As the others above say, if you can, you will be best going for an ATi Mobility 3870. Even one 3870 performs well comparing to two 7950 GTXs, and two 3870s will blow any other cards apart for the M9750.

 

there are 2 3870's and a Xfire cable for sale in the NBR market place as well

Is using two cards required if I purchase this card linked below for my alienware m9750:

Currently my computer has a malfunctioning geforce go 9750 but I did not purchase two cards for the laptop in the origin buying.

So to make it clear, my question:

If I buy the card linked in this post can I simply swap it with my existing card, or will I require 2 cards and SLI cable to connect them and bios flash on slave card?

If simply swapping one master card for another is ok~ do I need a new driver or what is the procedure for replacing a slightly different card?

Yes, you COULD buy a single card to replace your malfunctioning one. However, it'd perform better even with a SINGLE 3870, never mind two.

 

IF he could get ahold of one, would a 4850 work? That damn 9750 has had more "upgrades" than the M17 ever did. Go figure.

 

the 830Di was pretty nice but i think the power draw and the heat would not let him put a 4850

I cannot use ATI mobilitymodder because I cannot boot into normal mode. VGA mode black screen on password input screen (5 seconds) I have attached new master card HD mobility 3870 but I cannot boot into normal mode. Safe mode displays but normal mode has black screen. VGA mode has black screen with blinking cursor after 5 seconds.

 

you can download E-wrecked driver or the mobility drivers off ATI site and install them in safe mode

 

where can I get ewrecked driver? This links on this forum are broken. It does not list my video card on the catalyst download page, do I use 9.3 anyway?

added: mobilty catalyst 9.3 does not install "could not find driver for your system"

I'm running xp SP3... does this driver work for me?

It had a box that says installing driver, but quickly vanish, however I still have black screen in normal mode

I am afraid to install vista because I cannot display in normal mode. That I will not be able to successfully complete the install process. Thanks~

m9750 does not boot at all with both cards installed both are master...

 

it can't it needs to be master slave setup

 

I attempt many things. I cannot get single master in primary slot to display in normal mode. Any Catalyst driver I use say "cannot load detection driver" and quit.

 

My problem is still bothersome.

did you run mobility modder ?

 

yes I ran mobility modder on standard driver and on mobility driver neither would install

 

did you boot into safe mode and clean the drivers then install the the drivers?

try 9.11 catalyst

 

Yes it was because I needed vista. with vista everything works fine, even though I was trying to install xp driver before, vista works fine. ty for your help

m9750 with mobility 3870 does not work unless you use vista

 

Your talking rubbish saying it doesnt work with XP. I myself had Crossfire Hd3870's running flawlessly on my M9750. The only thing you need is the Vista BIOS.
