this is looking good so far. -
So far so good for me too. Plays games better since upgrading drivers from laptopvideo2go. Everything else about my M17X is working fine.
-
Same, everything has been going smooth. Temps are doing great, plays games perfectly. Makes my friends jealous. I love it!

Thought i'd just say that I have had no problems with any part of the m17x, build quality is excellant and the screen is the best i've ever seen.
No issues here (",)
Only very, very, minor niggle, attracts dust... I have to keep "Damp Clothing" her lol.... like i said minor really...

I'm having a unexplainable keyboard flex problem, and I just noticed that I can push the plate arround the IR sensor in a bit, and when I do so, it creacks =-/
But for the rest, all is fine =)

Also, while changing the RAM-modules, I noticed a screw was missing from the bottom =S (one in the corner).
I had hopes of finding one in one of the two small plastic bags that came with the system, containing several sizes of screws.
So I removed 1 screw that I guessed I would need for the empty hole, but none of them matched ='<
So far for AW's 200 point inspection again =-/
I have also had problems when I closed the laptop when it wasn't doing anything, it was just displaying the desktop.
I tried opening it maybe 15 mins later, and I just had a black screen =-/ lights and all worked, but it wouldn't display anything :S... so I was left with no other option than to hold down the power button ='<
oh well, besides that it's a wonderfull system ^^ (hard to keep clean tho =O)

Was the missing screw the one that locks in the CD/DVD drive... It;s there in case you don't want/need to spaw out the smart-bay device for another.
Mine didn't have the screw in but it came in a litle bag (",)

It could very well be the screw that locks the DVD-drive, but none of the screws provided in the bag matched it ^_^
Also, the empty HDD-slot/tray is right under the DVD-drive, so the bonking can't possible come from there. Also, while typing this, all of a sudden, the flex in the keyboard becomes very apparant ='<
Ah well =

Maybe you should contact CS and request a new keyboard... see if that fixes it?

I am missing a scew also but I will add that to the list of things that need to be done to my M17X. Here a list
1 Upgrade to dual 9800 gt. Smiles
2 Screw
3 Format and reinstall Vista factory spec. That what started my keyboard lighting problem.
4 check keyboard lighting and make sure it working.
I will also check on price of a 9000x cpu upgrade price. If the price is low I will upgrade it also.
I would of done this a few months ago. But a few factors was here. Nothing on TV but Bloody reruns and nothing to do. -
So far everything working fine..
I only think that my hard disk's on my M17X are not very rapidly.. 2 x Samsung Type250 GB
My previous hard disks on my M9750 appeared to be much faster ( 2 x HITACHI 200GB 7200RPM DOLPHIN C SATA)
I am thinking to change them to 2 x HITACHI Travelstar 7K320 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache
I am also waiting on my Vista x64 Cd's to install them
With Findvika's GUIDE: Running Vista x64 on m17x
PS: Question about about the keyboard flex.. what problems does it give..
typing letters mixed up ? -
Look at the 320gb with 16mb cache 7200 rpm. I beleave it the one you listed. It faster then the 120gb hard drive I had.
-
Thanks AtolSammeek,
I am not sure if it's the 16MB Cache or the Platter Size that makes them faster..
I am still having a hard time to decide wich option to go for...
2 x 320GB or some SSD 2 x 128GB from Patriot
(How is the weather in California by the way, going there next week to work.. Santa Barbara..)
