I was wondering (and maybe you guys who have dissected your machines can answer this) if you can change from ripley to skullcap. I was talking to someone with alienware about this and he said it would be possible for 100 bucks, before i could find out more, we got disconnected :( . My short memory forget his name and so i had to speak to another random representative who said it could not be done. Can i get some clarification?

Wouldn't changing the design basically equate to getting a new lid? Technically it can be done, but I don't know if Alienware would approve the operation...

You can. I emailed them about the black chassis. And they said exactly the same thing! They said it would cost £100 for the chassis and labour, and then however much for shipping costs.
You just need to send it in.

As I pointed out in another thread, every company has to deal with variability of service personnel. Alienware is no different. Reps make up stuff sometimes for whatever reason. Take what Armando said above as Alienware's official stance.

Well of course you can change the chassis. You just gotta send it in, and they'll charge you for it...and it'll probably take a while, for one reason or another.

Anything is possible with money silly rabbits...

Hello and thank you for your patience,

Just wanted to clarify and confirm, the skullcap is not available as an upgrade. You may make the change only if the system is in production and has not shipped. We apologize for the confusion.

    Thank you.

this is a stupid policy. Alienware's selling point is aesthetics, i can go with a more powerful system from sager for less money, but its the alienware look that keeps me from doing this. Why not allow even further customization like sprays and stuff? This would be EASY money for alienware!
