Ok well this is my m15x review. I want to start out by saying what strikes me about the laptop. Its heavy. Heavier then most other laptops I have handled. The screen is squeaky. The sound of plastic very audible. When you push on either of the sides in the place where there are pictures of it breaking it makes the sound. It also has a glossy finish. Not a big deal but when your hands sweat its sort of annoying. The touchpad is horrid without the sticker but luckily its quite nice with.
Well those are all the bad things I can say about it within a day of delivery. Lets just say even with all that Im still keeping it. More when I can provide a more detailed review.
Anyways I ordered my RAM from newegg the same day I ordered the laptop and it got here a day earlier (3rd). The link to the photobucket account were there is currently a picture of the RAM is below. I will add pics of the laptop when it comes.

You may have remembered my alienexchage fiasco. Well I never received a card and the number the rep from this site gave me didn't work. I am currently working on it with roswell team. And will post here when it all gets sorted out.
So far CS (roswell) has been very good to me. No complaints about false info from roswell or anything but I wont get into it about normal CS.
Question.
1 anyone currently using a laptop lock for their m15x? I like this and there is a video of it working but some people swear it doesn't. Help? Any other locks people are currently using?
specs are in the sig any questions please feel free to ask.

Ok I have some questions.
1. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off alienfx when I close the lid? This seems like a big energy waster and I dont want to have to put my laptop to sleep or hibernate every time I close the lid.
2. What is everyone's average temp with HWmoniter?
3. Sometimes when using my wireless logitech vx revolution laser mouse the pointer freezes on the screen for about 5 seconds the the touchpad will blink and the pointer will work. Whats with that?
4. I feel worried when using the lappy on my bed or something because there is no airflow underneath. Is this bad for the laptop or does it not matter?
5. When using the touchpad scroll feature If I leave the my finger in place after scrolling the page with randomly skip up and down at random. I have no idea why. -
1. use vika's app
2. i dont use HWMonitor :/
3. that has never happened to me when im using an external mouse.
4. Its fine as long as you arent playing games on it when there is little air flow. The ports for my m15x are basically blocked when i used it in chem lab since the table they provide for our laptops is too small for mine. the rubber pegs dont even touch the table >>
5. ive seen it happen. if i move my finger just a little bit sometimes it just jumps up. What i do is just scroll to where i want and take my finger off. Then i put my finger back when i want to scroll again. -
1) you can turn them all of with the new CC as well. right-click on the alienhead in the taskbar and select "sht down" (or something like that, not sure what it's called in english).
2) for idle use, i get 47 for ACPI. 38 for the CPU cores, 42 for GPU, 32 for HDD. yours should be around there as well, plus/minus 5°C.
3) i got this once or twice, no clue why. try different USB ports for the reciever, and update the mouse software.
4) just don't do heavy gaming where the airflow is necessary for cooling. for office stuff, surfing, etc, you should be okay.
5) never experienced this. update the mousepad driver, and lift your finger -
i also stopped using my finger to scroll. i use my thumb now since i think i get more control. trying using your thumb to see if the problem still continues. it only happens when i was using my finger and it still on the touch pad and i accidently nudge it a little bit.

Ok hoe about the keyboard lag fix? Was this ever solved? My aplloiges in advance if this has already been answered a thousand and 1 times!
-
Are you talking about the lag that comes when you're trying to type repeated letters, like the "o" in g oogle (spells out gogle instead.)
-
yes was this ever fixed?
-
i think it was at somepoint... i think the new BIOS (x36) solved... and someone (Oceanus?) posted a workaround of sorts.
-
I think it had something to do with the synaptics drivers? Something about key repeat and setting it to minimum length of time. I'm not entirely sure.
-
Well I got it on dec 4th. . . Should the x36 bis not already be installed? I definitely have the keyboard lag issue. links?
-
Try my workaround here (you'll have to scroll down a tad to find it):
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=288995&page=4
You'll still see keyboard lag once in awhile, but the workaround should reduce how often it happens substantially. Try it out and see if it helps. -
-
Are you sure you did it correctly?
And if you have, I suppose it's to be expected. There was one person who tested it and it didn't work out for him. I still can't seem to figure out why. -
I believe so. It wasn't entirely complicated. However After I rebooted the lag issue (so far) is gone.
-
Wait, what?
Rebooted with the workaround in place or rebooted after you reverted back to how it was originally? -
Well I rebooted after the fix keyboard dosn't work at all. I import the registry backup and it give some error on how it was unable to complete all of it or whatever. Then I said ok and everything and rebooted. Keyboard+ lag issue fixed.
-
Haha-- not the way I imagined it would fix, but hey, it seems like it has been resolved, right?
Can you test it out to make sure the issue has been fixed and also check to see if the PollStatusIterations registry file is still there. -
For me, I followed this thread of the solution #1
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=252283
it turns out it kind of work because right after I configure, now keyboard don't have lags problems. I think I solved it without rebooting(till till till till testing)

btw sorry for the double post, where can I find the synaptics driver where the option for "disable when external pointing device is found" is enabled?
