Hey everybody. I just got my m11x and have noticed much slower speeds when downloading off of usenet. I'm running the same version of newsbin as my desktop and have tried both wireless and wired and only get about 6Mpbs whereas my desktop is getting 12Mpbs+.
Has anybody experienced anything similar?

Is your router an A,B,G, or N router? -
Actually all of the above. I have the netgear WNDR3700. I've tried it wired also though and see the same results. I'm wondering if it's a windows 7 thing?

windows firewall? antivirus?
I've been downloading torrents and such just fine. -
A wireless network shouldn't be a bottleneck for an internet connection ever unless files are being transfered also, Unless signal strength degrades.
W7 could be downloading updates in the background, Could be like said above and extra paranoid Firewall etc. -

I found once I installed my AV and firewall software (Symantec Endpoint Protection) that Windows Firewall remained active with the Symantec firewall. In all the previous version of Windows I've used, the Windows firewall was automatically disabled, but not in Windows 7.
I too was experiencing poor download speeds and now they are fine. However, I can't tell you that it was definitely the two firewalls running at the same time causing the slow download speed, but it's worth a check anyway.
Go into Action Center and click "View installed firewall programs". This only applies if you have actually installed a third party firewall though! -
its not the com. probably its a bottleneck somewhere else.
probably the bloatware on your m11x.
slow download and usenet speed on m11x
