mmmmm yummy matteee. -
i thought i saw in some other thread sayin it wont be here till mid june, not sure tho
-
They will start shipping in mid-June. No surprise because it's Alienware
-
yea this is AW. They build computers kind of slowly. it will probably start shipping mid june - early july.

Would you say that the slower build time is normal for Alienware?
I'm only asking because the m17x (if i get it) will be my first AW machine...

Cool, glad i'm not alone here...
I'm waiting for Chaz's review as his review of the m15x was good and he's getting a review unit...

So exactly when are people expecting this to hit the maker?
With the D901C and the XPS 1730,AW had better have something to go into the fight -
Alienware at the moment cant find their arse with two hands. It wouldnt surprise me now if they announced that the m17x line will end in a month.
-
I too am eagerly looking forward to some reviews and pics of this beast. I know that some people have ordered some really intense setups...should be fun to see how well these things handle...they certainly are enormous.
-
yeah, I'd want to see some side by side pics with the m1730 and the sagers
-
well technically the m17x isnt competing with the m1730 because the m1730 has been discontinued by dell but im sure we still all want to know if it is really better.
-
-
I ordered one yesterday.... -
I think he meant the rumour about the XPS line being discontinued.
Dell denied that. -
-
Only for us on the forums. Outside of NBR, Alienware is considered the best of the best.
Man, look where misinformation may lead you...I can't convince some of my buddies that the m15x is terrible -
Who told you that? Lolz. Please do not post incorrect information. -
there was reports a while ago that XPS would no longer be a Gaming brand and turned to like style/medium performance... (basically a macbook competitor.)
Alot of people took this as discontinued.. but yer i wouldn't be suprized if the next generation of XPS notebooks have no high performance Sli or crossfire and are just like m1530 level.. while alienware becomes dells offical gaming brand. (alienware is now on the dell website etc makes no sense for them to keep making m1730 style laptops)
-
Of but it is. You see , here on the forums, people are from all over the world. So the problems are spread.
Outside of this, people call AW directly, and those stories rarely make it out in the open. -

Just keep it real in here . . .
-
yeah but heathkidd's right, you're gonna get a higher proportion of faults visiting here since this is a support forum.
-
Well, yes, of course, but my point is that if m15xs all over the world have issues, and so many of them, that suggests a design issue, not isolated problems.
I can't and won't even try to sugest a # of m15xs with problems, I`m just saying that here on the forum, there are some redundant ones visible in all the units, again linked to design flaws, not misapropriate usage... -
-
@Heath - Since this many people on the forums are having problems with the M15x, that number is almost a ratio to the real world numbers. For example, no one here has been having problems with the M9750 (except for 1 or 2 weird cases). No one has complained about the M9750 build quality, screen wobble, creaking hinges, etc.
In addition, my one friend mike has a M5500 which is overheating to 105C which is pretty damn hot. However, he didn't know that for 1 year until I used his laptop one day and told him it wasn't running properly because it was downclocking a ton at 105C and that he needed to get it fixed. My point is that the M15x could be having a ton of problems but to the users they could just think it is common and supposed to happen.
I'm not sure if you are an Alienware fanboy or anything but I know that not every person who owns a AW comes on a forums to solve their problems. Most of them probably just call AW tech support and get it solved that way which is why you do not see a lot of them here.
Finally: I agree with Eleron. With the M9750, the problems here are isolated problems (won't turn on, other weird things). I don't think we have really had a repetitive issue in the M9750 aside from SLi drivers which happen on any SLi notebook. The m15x has been having build problems, that MANY users have been experiencing. -
I for one am eagerly awaiting the launch of the m17x , I hope it'll be a definite step up from the m15x.
And whether people like it or not, it's in the same class as the XPS 1730 and sager 9262, so it's got heavy competition already... -
the black is nice. probably will ship in the next few weeks. dont quote me on this though could be sooner, could take longer.

@Chaz, I don't think it's misinformation, the GPU downclocking, the overheating, the cracks , they're all part of the general m15x issues.
A future customer should be aware of what the possible problems are and look for alternatives to choose from.
All in all, doing research and setting up choices for future buys might just save you a future hassle and expense.
We can only hope that the m17x won't have the same rocky start as the m15x. -
-
Well, that means that AW has done some work in this regard.
Although people still reach 90-95C at max load here. I don't know if that counts for misapropriate usage, but a product's history can sometimes show the future road.
I'm glad that the cracks aren't ubiquos ,and that the GPU downclocking doesn't exist, I need to brush up on my m15x history -
-
id expect it to be hot. you're putting a 8800gtx in a 15" laptop.
so where is the m17x?
