ok so we got our 17xr2 replacement in a 18" computer and a mid/high performance 17" high end 11" and 14" and the 15" is going bubye... we all know that, but whats next for alienware. i mean 19" is TOO big. we have basicly pushed the limits exterior wise on laptops, and we have stupid amounts of power inside, but that will always get better and better. but what else can dell, AW do... heck what about anyone HP, asus, the whole gauntlet. everything is played out. lights, design, speakers, size, 3D, everything! just want your opinions on this, it just got me thinking when the m18x was announced.![]()
P.S. this is supposed to be a fun thread, although it sounds really serious. but i do want real opinions, and no "well they could make 6D in a 29" notebook" because that wont happen and its just dumb! thanks guys

a M17x shunk down to 15.6 with 4 ram slots, two separate coolers and a GTX 560 will be ideal for me. the M17x will have the extra HDD and slightly better cooling for the 6970 class cards.
I really really..really don't like the 14inch form factor. the screen was always awkwardly proportioned to me and there is too many compromises for not too much gain in portability. there is a reason why apple always stuck with the 15inch form factor.
for a negligible gain in weight and size you get way more space for larger battery, more ram slots, and seperate coolers. It's even possible to have 2HDD in a 15.6 incher as shown in the ASUS g53. a 15.6inch with 1080p is also possible where as it is too much pixels on a 14inch screen.
they should have gone with a 14.5 inch screen atleast like HP did with the envy. -
alienware tablet! haha would be cool
-
Now we should be getting in to the liquid cooled notebook stage. I really want that to take off.
-

I'm about ready to buy my Alienware Phone now...
-
At this point it really is about shrinking the tech while still improving it.
We'll probably start seeing machines that are much smaller but just as powerful, which is what we got in the 17x R3.
We'll eventually be able to game on a macbook air. -
I say we turn this thread into photoshops of various products with alienware logos or looks.
-
due to the answer of the guy at the presentations of the new produc i'm stuck and can't decide if i should get a tablet now (msi windpad) or wait for alienware to push thiers out
-
-Alienware Tv's.
-Alienware tablets.
-Alienware phone's.
-Alienware laptops with new tech. but smaller/compacter size.
-Alienware gaming system such as ps3/xbox.
-Alienware kitchens, that would really look cool with al the lights.
-Alienware media players/media centers.
Still alot to cover. -
Same awesome case designs and benchmark hardware for gaming as usual. That's what's next.
If you want something else, buy something else. Alienware doesn't have to be your one stop shop for everything (Walmart). It's a niche (boutique) brand. -
How about an alienware laptop that transforms into a remote controlled UFO for luls -
-
WOW! thanks for the opinions. i lold really hard at some, keep them coming, i also like the idea on the AW tablet. i can an i7 2620m and a gtx555m in a 8" tablet with available usb 3.0 slots for mice etc. basically an 8" m14x computer. that would be awesome!!!!!
i also really like the liquid cooling idea, never thought of it in a laptop. even better, a dual cool setup. leave the quart tank, and radiator at home and switch to fans, then when you get home, plug 2 tubes back into the computer and have a monster LC 18"!!!! -
Alienware UMPC
-
At the rate Dell is going with sizing, they're probably thinking they can bring back a revamped version of the 20.1" XPS M2010 as an Alienware model in the next year or two.
Dell XPS M2010 Product Details | Dell -
any speculations on when they'll be refreshing/redesigning the alienware line up? -
I don't know why I didn't see it before. Alienware didn't make the M11x a nice 13" which it should have been for it's size/weight because they wanted to keep the competition lower and dub it "worlds most powerful sub 11inch". Then so they don't have to compete in the 15" market for the titles they make a 14" and get rid of the 15" beast and dub it "worlds most blah blah blah". Then to not have to compete in the 17" segment they make the legendary M17x a joke in power for it's size and make the M18x and call it "worlds most powerful boat anchor".
Great marketing.. Not -
I want a flipen 13in laptop...
I did like that razor laptop/tablet thing... -
How about an Alienware'ized version of the up & coming Sony S2 tablet?
Sony S1 and S2 dual-screen Honeycomb tablets get official (video) -- Engadget
Check out the video of him playing Crash Bandicoot on it. -
I wonder what Alienware shows at E3? nothing? 18" monster and that is it? M14X doesn't even have i7 extreme CPU option, I am almost went for Lenovo W520... last chance Dell, last chance - please bring something else new with great video and smaller than 17"....
-
What's next? Smaller cases, better cooling, lighter materials that are also tougher, better screens (RGB LED), possibly non reflective screens, and batteries that can last even longer, and even for hours whilst gaming. There's a long way to go until then.
-
Alienware desk could be cool, with fancy built in lights
-
A few years ago Alienware tried branching out by selling re-badged Coby mp3 players (I actually bought one) and speaker dock(actually pretty damn good). They looked cool, and for the most part served their purpose, however they could not compete with other products in the market. I suspect they will try again with the rise of Android, I could definitely go for an Alienware designed phone.
-
What's next? Maybe AW/Dell can do proper pasting so that we don't have to go through the repasting process. I simply cannot believe that this is not standard procedure to use the best process up front.
I discovered this after I ordered one. It made me think....buy a new car, but you have to replace the valve cover gaskets as the stock ones are not good enough.
I know AW/Dell is not the only ones to do this. When looking at Asus, they had an option to upgrade the compound.
Maybe not the right place to put this comment, but whatever. -
-
That would be cool. hehe -
meh pasting is really not main focus if you ask me most people will never push thier system past the capacities of the default stuff and thoses that do knows how to repaste or are willing to learn
-
a question I submitted on twitteri was pretty excited
-
I would totally buy an alienware tablet:
Movies, Games, Music, eBooks, On the go access to the internet.
WiHD, WiFi, and a decent-enough onboard gfx that would let you connect a wireless mouse and keyboard to play games on medium settings. -
^^^^^ lol yeah with lights and the best cooling in the industry
liking the ideas, that xps 2010 or whatever is just stooopid big and stooopid ugly, i would be embarrassed to walk into work with that -
Recently I was skyping with some friends and was using my laptop because the webcam is super ugly and I don't want to have it constantly sitting on top of my OptX monitor, so I thought... how about an Alienware webcam??
Another one I had today was Alienware Gaming Speakers, complete with customisable Alienfx lighting built into the speakers, but with the advanced features of the alienware systems instead of the tactx mouse and keyboard. Still disappointed I can't make my keyboard pulse or morph... -
On a similar note, I would like to see alienware 5.1 analog (3 headphone jacks, not USB) headphones. -
I'd buy anything that looked as cool as an alienware
-
Thunderbolt ports are coming next.
-
In one or 1.5 years I want to see an M18/17x with a glasses free 3D screen. Then I might jump on the 3D train as well.
-
i use wanna see and alienware laptop transform in the transformers 3 movie.... lol

So yes, G53 got a giant bezel and thicker
To me Next should be M17x R4
Identical dimensions of the current M17Xr3 but with Dual Cards (Remove the optical drive and make it external via USB and use the optical drive space for the second GPU/fan) or at least keep it single Card but give us the option to install another battery in the place of the optical drive to double the battery life.
It's really stupid at this age to have internal Optical drive, Current external drives are super light and slim so people can take it with them on the go when they need it like 1% of the time.... 99,9% of my games are from steam to begin with so DVD drive is not required -
M17X-R4 will never have dual video cards because then that would take sales away from the M18X-R1/2, which they make much more money off of
-
Dual screen m11x would be nice, triple screen would be better.
maybe a small slide out screen like the lenovo w700ds
http://gadgetheat.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/lenovo-thinkpad-w700ds-dual-screen-laptop.jpg -
I'd love to see a 15.6 inch version with a full number pad.

Depending on how cheap hardware gets we probably see some small performance up grades but agree that we will see thunderbolt
