Hi guys!
I know this is the alienware forum but i found on the net a concurrent to the alienware m15x based on the clevo chassis. Now, on paper it look pretty good but do you think that the clevo will encounter the same downclocking problem as the m15x?
just click on the link:

looks pretty cool actually, probhably voodoo and falcon nw etc would offer nice painted onces, albeit overpriced tho
altho their cs is nice -
So when do we get our Centrino 2 m15x's ?
I think I'm going to hold off buying until alienware starts pumping out centrino 2 notebooks. -
This is a serious concurrent to the m15x since it also has the binary gfx (from centrino 2) so it will have a decent battery life too.

Yeah i think im with you JWEST, I think ill hold off until Montevina, by then the issues should be ironed out hopefully

That Cizmo... is a re-branded Clevo M860TU.

It will be out in Summer 2008.... and it will give the M15x the most competition for everything (quality, pricing, performance, and newer technology)
Not only is it a 15.4" notebook with 8800M GTX....
Its the World's First DDR3 notebook.

i never liked clevo laptops. sure they got the power but they cant touch the style of alienware.
-
I think it's safe to assume AW will have a competitor ready in time though.
-
-
since Alienware has been re-branding Clevo's for a while now in their Sentia, Area-51, and Aurora notebooks. -
wow thats badass... it havn centrino 2 will be a plus, but im sure AW will come out with centrino 2 in the m15x soon, hopefully, also with fix of issues... thats most of our hopes
i hope atleast by summer or end of it....
with all that in mind, the m15x will eventually have most of those specs... with new ram and platform... cept the built in tv tuner is pretty badass, also the built in figureprint reader... still no way near style of m15x
i have yet to see sumtn look as cool as m15x -

Looks nice...

that pic is misleading. It tapers down a lot on the front, to make it look thinner.
-
hell yeah im gonna get this clevo!!! with my bonus wage that i've been saving~~ im gonna rock the world~~ two best 15" notebook at my disposal~~ of course gonna the m15x to my lil bro
-
If they will offer an intermediate screen res like 1440x900 or 1600xwhatever I'll consider this for myself around the end of the year
. 1920x1200 is a bit too much for my needs and 1280 is nothing
.

I think in the summer we will have a lot of 15,4+8800 Clevos popping out from different vendors hopefully some with a decent design, but I'm still waiting for a good picture, that shows how high that thing really is! -

Its not "will be a compeditor" it is, well assuming you can get a comparable 3.0ghz processor to the extreme x9000 in the m15x. If I was about to buy a 15 inch, this would be getting some serious consideration versus the m15x.
-
wow, good price! much lower than the m15x
no lightning keyboard btw, but you can choose it with MONTEVINA! GREAT -
-
It seems that AW is pulling away from that though. The m15x and m17x chassis are not being sold anywhere else. -
Alienware started selling some exclusive gaming notebooks since the m9700 (from Arima).
.... coincidentally, Alienware started doing this after I started de-mystifying gaming notebooks from boutique brands... and pointing out that the notebooks that can be found on expensive OEMs like Alienware and VoodooPC can be found for a better price at such sites like:
.... etc...
They found that they could not compete selling the same notebooks against vendors that sold it for much cheaper and with great service to boot.
So Alienware probably decided to gain a niche again in the mobile gaming systems by exclusively getting systems from Arima (m9700, m9750) and Quanta (m15x, m17x) in order to compete. -
Thanks for all the advertisements Gophn

I think that if AW won't release the new black ripley with montevina (all issues fixed!) and a competitive price, many people will choose this CLEVO, where you can get the same or better specs at lower price!
-
The CX15 doesn't have smartbay capabilities. At least on paper it doesn't...
-
Well I just posted this on the sager forum too, but I will be getting which ever comes out first, the black m15x or the CX15, M860TU....whatever. I just wish Alienware would hurry up. It's crazy that the first time they showed one to anybody, it was a black one, but then they release a silver model instead.
-
Well, for the record, I think all colours and styles were revealed at the same time, but I agree -- at this point, it really is crazy how long it is taking them now
-
the Clevo is nice but... its going to ship with DDR3 but Old cpu's at first... so its performance will prob be the same as the m15x.. + its cooling is unproven with the new X35 bios the m15x seems to be issue free...
also the m15x will be much more silent than the clevo the clevo fans are normaly cheap and low quality...
no smart bay... no intergrated no lit keyboard..
and its prob going to sell for 2200 USD or so for a 8800m GTX and a 2.5 9300.... so unless u want a laptop u can toss around the m15x is still nicer... + it has like what 4-5 hours of battery.. eurocom rate the new clevo 15 at 1.5hours... so compared to what they say of the np5973 thats like 2.4hours tops...
if the m15x is only 500 or so more expensive its still WELL ahead with features /style -
"15.4-inch; WUXGA 1920x1200 or WSXGA+ 1600x1050" -
The fact of the matter is that the world's fastest notebook, Clevo D900C/D901C...
- is the coolest and quietest with four large diameter fans
No notebook's cooling has yet to match that.
The M570RU fans were what the issues were about fans being too loud do to automated fan throttling to cool down the system when it hits a certain temp.
- now with the new Fan Toggle firmwares, the problems are gone for the most part. -
"It is assumed that the Sager NP9260 runs hot and loud by many. However, this is simply not the truth. Even with two of the most powerful video cards available for notebooks, a desktop processor, and four large-diameter fans, the NP9260 runs surprisingly cool and quiet. The only audible sounds are the soft rushes of air flowing out of the back of the notebook (which is essentially all vents). There is no real fan motor noise. The air coming out of the back is definitely warm but not flaming hot as might be expected. Even at full tilt, while the fans spin faster the noise level is not significantly increased. Those four fans push a lot of air while standing behind the notebook I could feel a warm breeze, even 5 feet away. The NP9260 will be a nice companion in the wintertime." - CHazs review
My m57ru is bearly hearable with the new firmware -
this cx15 will start to ship on the 13th of june, that is what is hoped.
-
How is that arrogant?? Why do I want to go to the AW forums and see, "o AW is too expensive, you should buy x,y,z. Clevo is the fastest notebook in the world!"?? In multiple posts no less. -
He didn't exactly say that Alienware is expensive; but of course it is - you think it's not? He gave you a bit of gaming notebook history!
By the way you haven't read the guide he wrote on Clevo notebooks: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=91510 I personally never knew that, found it very useful! -
All we know for now, is that the new Clevo will have the montevina platform.
But, AW hasn't said anything at all about the m17x or m15x getting the same montevina chipset. But, I wouldn't be surprised if AW does release later or as an upgrade.
The bigger the lappy, means the more space to keep the GPU and CPU cool. So, it's not surprising to see the DT900 running at such low temps. CS is another story...
The bottom line is the m15x bests the CX15 in battery life/portability with the smartbay technology, even if the CX15 also has BinaryGFX. -
Oh yeah since you can have 2 batteries at once.
the concurrent to the m15X :CX15 cizmo
