think i got stung by the guy from Austin Computers again with RAM speed.
When i bought the Laptop from that shop the owner said he will replace the memory with 4 x 1 gig 800Mhz
But when i used Sandra it tells me the memory speed is only 667Mhz
I used other Application they all reported the memory is only 667Mhz.
My question is does RAM for notebook come in 800Mhz and how do i prove that this is only a 667Mhz not 800Mhz as promised by Alan Tan at Austin Computers in Osborne Park Australia?
He said to open up the computer and look for myself - he said the sticker says 800Mhz.
Did i get scammed? or is he telling the truth? could sandra sisoft be lying to me aswell as other Apps?

if im not mistaken the chipset will only recognize the 667, so it will downclock anything that is higher... you probably have 800, but it gets kicked down to 667
-
Download this tool and attach a screenie with the memory. I think there might be a problem with the chipset.

I'm not sure about this because I don't have my m15x yet, but it's possible that the memory bus on the motherboard only runs at 667, and so your 800 chips are only going to run at that speed. Someone can either confirm or correct that, though...
EDIT:
Oops! Patrick beat me to it. Yeah, what he said -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Most probably the RAM downclocked to 667Mhz.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
he very well could have put 800mhz memory in your notebook.
however, the laptop itself will force it to run at 667mhz, because that is the maximum that the laptop allows.
of course, it doesn't really matter anyway. there isn't a performance difference between 667mhz and 800mhz memory on your laptop. the bus speed of your chipset and laptop is only 800mhz anyway, and multiple sticks at 667mhz each are plenty to fill that.
so stop worrying, it doesn't matter either way. plus ram is cheap these days. i bought 4 GB for $45 on newegg. -
Phew ok i know i am a worry wart
i used to spend $$$ money there but since i saw them installing games on my daughter's new Alienware Laptop then playing on it aswell as having their customers touching her new laptop has made me very upset and now i am so suspicious of what type of person the shop owner is now
I have to find a new shop to buy computer stuff from now. -
. After what you've been through, I am amazed you haven't hanged anyone
