I just want to turn the Alien head off on the back of the screen. Also how do I keep the power button from changing colors. How do I turn off select zones and also turn it all off?

    Thanks.

You can turn a zone off by setting it's color to black using the AlienFX Editor.

To switch off all zones quickly, hit FN+F11 or right click on the little alien head icon to the right of the task bar and select "Go Dark". If you want the status zones to go dark as well, you will have to have "Keep Status Zones On During Go Dark" checked as well.

The Alienware Command Center has to be properly installed for this to work, by the way.

It changes colors when it is charging the battery. That is also in the AlienFX editor.

I do not believe it is possible to turn off the lights for the head on the back of the screen, without turning the power button lights off too, but maybe it is a setting that I have not found yet.

Excellent. I need to find that one then. It seemed like every time I changed the color of one, the other would change too.

Weird. I even downloaded the latest BIOS & latest version of Command Center & still can't find the ability to have different settings for the LCD back (zone 1) & power button (zone 2). If I change either one in basic or advanced, the other changes too.

I noticed I lost the ability to have the right & left speakers different colors though. They are now one zone. Oh well. Glad you got yours fixed.

Edit the theme file manually using notepad or a .xml editor. try notepad++

Find the zone and then change the hex code for the color - some will work, others will not. The start of the hex color code (#FF) is brightness. ;)
