unbelievable got my m15x just today and the keyboard keys fell off

wtf....
so here i am sitting on my new m15x.
the keyboard key " o " fell off, as u can see it still works but i just used it once and bam, there goes the key, just fell off, little bracket on the key is cracked.... ????????

what do i do, has this happnd to anyone before?
will alienware send me a new key or do i return the entire laptop?

 

I've heard they will just send you a new key but disturbing that the key just broke, worries me because mine comes tommorrow...

 

get a refund and get two sager 5793's.

 

Actually if I recall, I read somewhere on this forum AW actually sent the guy a whole new key board for his troubles,lol

 

Yes, I remember this happened a few times back when the notebook was new. AW should send you a whole new keyboard

 

and how did that get by quality testing >.<

 

actually this is kinda good and bad, good thing is you have a whole spare key board but its bad because your missing your "o" key...it's nothing too big though

im in canada
they shipped yesterday and i got it today, one day shpping, very nice, but very dissapinted that this happened. Three keys actually fell off, i just gently clicked each key, and three f them just snap flew off, on hold now waiting for tech support

 

that sucks. They should send you a new keyboard. I cant imagine them sending you one key, that would be idiotic

Just got off the phone they said they are sending me a whole new keyboard and i have to replace it myself.....
And they gave me an article how to do it, i hope its not that hard...

Welcome to the m15x club...lots of people have had build quality issues with it =/

I hope that you replace the keyboard and everything else is fine

Oh well. I work at a call center (sadly) I know how to be a real ***** with customer service if I have to.

 

Holy ****...another 3 damn sorry to hear that man My laptop is about an hour and a half away from me so I guess I'll be getting it in the morning Hopefully no problems

just read over your story. Sorry to hear about your problems but it is actually very easy to remove the keyboard and swap it out.

Plus, he does communicate with them through PM so that's not really a fair attack. Publicly it is quite rehearsed, but he does a lot of backstage handiwork, it would seem.

You're not the only one with this problem - my <- (left arrow) key kept falling off so they sent me a new keyboard. They might however send you just the key, not sure as I had some other problems with the keyboard hence why they sent me a new one.

 

same happened when I got my m15x but it was the shift key, I just contacted Alienware & they were very glad to help & replace it just sent DHL to come & collect the broken Shift key (she thought it was the smallest package she'd ever had to take ) then within 2 days I got my replacement, but instead of just a replacement key I got a freaking new keyboard so I just took off the shift key off it & put it on mine, so if my keyboard ever brakes I won't have to contact Alienware

 

To be fair that's pretty good service, granted that it shouldn't have fallen off but...

The package must have been the size of an oxo cude lol...

I put it in a small padded envelope but when you look inside you actually had to look for the key

ask for a full new keyboard imo... it shouldnt be 2 much hassle its a known issue.

 

Maybe this is their new improved M15x design?
They decided to add some special effects to go on with lights and heat... keys jumping. This is like an action packed futuristic movie!
