how should I update hardware drivers? go to device manager and search for drivers from there or search manually??
-
You can do either... I prefer to do it manually..
And if you want, check out DriverMax.. it lets you update the latest drivers for all devices together... Its a nice utility and I have tested it.. works well. -
Check out laptopvideo2go. Find a stable driver. 177.92, 177.98, 179.13 - all drivers I'd recommend; Although you're on SLi so, I think I recall OB saying that the 178.15 drivers worked well with his 8800M GTX SLi configuration. I'd recommend you go with 178.15 drivers in that case.
As for the actual process:
1. Download the driver (make sure you download the version compatible with your current OS) and modified .inf from laptopvideo2go
2. Extract the driver file to any folder
3. Overwrite the original .inf file with the modified one from laptopvideo2go (Simple drag and drop will do)
4. Uninstall your current NVidia drivers
5. Restart
6. Use a program like CCleaner to clean out any scraps left by the uninstallation
7. Restart
8. Run the setup file in the folder you extracted your driver to
Then you should be good to go! I'd recommend doing it this way, over the automatic search as these are forceware drivers that probably don't even get found through device manager auto search. -
thanks, what about the bios update? where can I find out which mb do I have?

Regarding the automatic driver updating. Last time I did that for my graphics card driver, it installed some generic Microsoft one from 2006. I have no idea how that happened so I would recommend doing it manually.
