    Hey all,

I've searched the forums and googled it, but can't find an answer :(

My question is: if I buy the M17x with no upgrades, can I upgrade it myself with the supported parts?

The starting specs are (I believe) to what I would like to upgrade

    Core 2 duo p6500= core i7

    4 gb ram (ddr3 1066 mhz)=8 gb 1333 mhz

    Single ati 260= dual 280s

    250 gb hard drive= 1 tb

I'm upgrading the res from the start because I'll probably screw up a screen replacement.

If some componants can't be upgraded to max from the start for some reason, I would like to know the lowest I can go to upgrade.

    Thanks in advance!

You can't upgrade from c2d to i7, it would require a different mainboard and cpu and most likely it wouldn't fit properly. Secondly it's usually more costly to upgrade later than to configure it initially. If you are on a tight budget but must have an M17x, I'd suggest using the Dell outlet to buy one.

    Me too  :(

I would get one with an i7 CPU and then upgrade the rest later from ebay when the extra power is needed.
