We are trying to buy a used alienware laptop. We might travel to chicago to buy the one listed at http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/sys/567112381.html, if it is real. Can someone look at the different cities of illinios, and states around it to see if there are matching offers? I have seen an ad for an alienware laptop with the EXACT same pictures in 3 different states, so that was obviously a scam. Basically what someone needs to help me with is looking at the website above, and try to prove its real. $850 for blue alienware aurora m9700 + ipod thanks in advance

not a bad deal but it could be a stolen laptop, since the price is so low including the ipod. contact the seller, ask him why its so low and why he is selling it,.

If the laptop isn't stolen then go for it. You will prob. have to upgrade the Ram and the Hard Drive. The GPU is the 7900GS which isn't as good as the GTX, but should still play games well.

If you can, don't buy it yet and get the HP 17" notebook. I forget what it is called but it has a 1.66Ghz processor, 2 GB ram, Vista, and the Geforce M8800GTS. That is around another 600-700. If you want it though go for it, just make sure its not stolen.

I am not considering getting anything but an alienware. What I need to know is if that sale is a scam. I also need to know if we buy if annonamasly, will we get in trouble if it is stolen?

It doesn't look like a scam. Ask the seller to post his name in front of the pictures so you know its his stuff. I can't tell you if you will get in trouble though.

I wouldn't buy stolen stuff. Not worth it since they might have that computer lojack software installed.

also, last question - i googled an alienware aurora m9700, and it links to the alienware website. You can customize one, but since it's not advertised on the main website, can you actually still buy one or is it just there and not able to purchase?

Sure it links to one, but you can't buy it. The only way you can buy an Aurora M9700 is through AW Ebay store if you want to buy it direct from AW. They go for around 1.5G on there. I don't know why you are so obsessed with AW though :) hehe.

Best bet is to buy it through AW if you are worried about all that stuff. Make sure you buy a warranty though.

    Hey,

I'm not sure if you're still looking for an alienware notebook, but I have a silver Aurora m9700 that I'd like to sell. I would like to make the switch over to a macbook but don't really have the money for it. I originally spent a little over $2000 on the computer but I'd be willing to sell it for 1000 - 1500. If you know of anyone looking to buy one, please do pass this on. It's in great condition and just recently had a brand new keyboard set placed in. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Thanks!
