I have never been very good selecting the video drivers for my laptops... Perhaps you can guide me. I have an m17x with the dual 260's, my main concern is not only gaming but I want to be able to extend my desktop to a second monitor which is impossible with the current stock drivers.

What are you guys using? Thanks!

this is strange... i get the following error when executing the setup.exe "the NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

what's up with that? I have the video cards enabled so its not like its looking at the 9400... what's going on?

you have to extract the additional_infs.zip and copy paste the nv_whql.inf file into the main folder. then, run setup.exe.

Is there something wrong with the default driver update you can do through Control Panel?

NOTE: It is not necessary to download LV2Go's modded INF file.

Once you download the driver, you will need to run the executable to extract it. Once the driver is extracted, look inside the directory for the 'Additional INFs' .zip archive. Extract this directory and then copy/paste the 'nv_whql.inf' into the top level of the 186.82 or 186.91 directory.

Once this is done, run the setup.exe app to install. This is required for the driver to recognize the hardware in the M17x.

The default INF (nvfu.inf) does not support the M17x GPUs and can be removed from the driver directory.

If you guys don't care about being able to switch between discreet and integrated using FN+F7 I have to recommend dox 182.05 as the best "in game performance" even better than his 182.46. 182.05 is the absolute best in game performance driver I have tried out of literally 30 or more drivers including all the latest ones.

The 186.82 and .91 were also good, but after a while in Crysis Wars they would eventually lock up my PC and I needed to hard reset, with dox 182.05 I can play CW for many hours straight with lower temps and better frames while not locking up.

So my vote goes to Dox 182.05 for overall performance and stability for the 260M's in my experience. Make sure to have the 9400 already disabled in the bios before you install 182.05 should you choose to try it.

Speak for yourself, I had my 260's at 690/1700/1075 stable when benching with Dox 182.05.

And benchmarking isn't really what he is looking for, he is looking for in game performance etc, which as I said 182.05 in my experience, is the best "gaming" driver for the 260M's and I've literally tried all Nvidia drivers modded and non modded. He will also be able to extend his desktop with those drivers.
