m9700 is really old now...wayyyy past its lifetime...go to www.alienware.com to see their current lineup if you are interested in alienware only...pay extra attention to their m17 ;)

I think it depends on how cheap you can get it - or how much money you can put on top to get a m17.

"today games in a decent config"... hmmm....
    which display? the 1200p?
its just DX9, and the amd-cpu is realy kinda outdated
i have had the aurora with the 1920x1200 display, and 2 7900 gs cards @ gt, but and if you want to play todays-games or maybe even future games @ the displays native resolution i doubt that you will be very lucky...

fc2 was one of the last games i ve seen on the aurora in native res @ good playable framerates. if it fits in your budget you might consider a basic-m17 with only 1 graficcard and the smalest cpu-it will outperform the aurora

dunno your location, but check ebay, nbr-marketplace, aw-website for a new model ...

btw: my 3dmarkscore for the aurora was 5642 3dmark06 - now make your decision :)
