My hinge is starting to break again, just a few months after I got it back.

I'm trying to get a good picture to post, but basically it looks like it is buldging out right between where the silver meets the black, not to mention when the lid is closed, one side is raised higher than the other.

This is the same side that I just sent back to get repaired back at the end of August.

Now that they no longer have me under warranty, I wonder if they will still do something about this?

Is there anyway I can just get a refund, personally I don't want to keep this computer for the next 3 years withought a warranty to cover all the many times I am going to have to send it back in for this problem.

I think im going to see what American express can do, I have heard they can get me a refund. I used my American Express card to buy the laptop.

I will probably give them a call tonight.

Whatever you do, do not expect any of the m15x's they send you to not have the issue. Each and every hinge is guaranteed to fail so get your money back if you can!

Sorry to hear about your m15x :( I hope that you are able to get what you decide to do. If AW won't take it back. You should maybe sell it.

I spent 2700 on it a year ago, chances are I wouldn't sell it, I would want more than anyone was willing to pay.

Really, if AW would of just let me purchase the additional 3 year warranty (like they said I could when I bought it), than I wouldn't even try to get a refund.

So instead of making 300 for a warranty, they lose 3000, dummys in my bok.

I just hope American Express will pull through for me.

If Alienware simply replaces the lid, it will eventually break again. It is most definitely a design flaw.

I'm sure you were able to browse through this thread:

I was lucky enough to have found a hinge repair specialist here locally in Manila. But some users have posted some DIY fixes over in that thread, here's hoping it will be able to help you in your case.

A refund of course would be even better, good luck with that steven. :)

Maybe you could get them to replace it with the new M15x.

It doesn't affect the new m15x, right? (And why the heck do they have the same name?)

its not the same name. Its a capital M now. I guess they kept the same name in the sense car manufacturers keep the same name for new versions of a certain model. Its a new version of the m15x and to make it clear, it keeps the name.

Okay, thanks, I didn't realize the 'M' was different :)

At least now I can properly talk about them!

Ha, took me a bit to notice the M instead of m.

But yeah, my credit card company is working for me, I just hope I don't have to take to much time from not having one at school. Next quarter starts on Jan 4.
