Hey guys I know the i7 just came out but the old quad core prices have not dropped on alienware.com at all.
So I was on ebay today and I found a good cheap maxed out QC extreme was wondering if I sould go with that or the refeshed model right from alienware.com here are specs and prices from both.

    Ebay.com version price is 2,400 + 100 shipping so total is 2,500

    Dell Alienware M17X
    Video Card
Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M, 2GB - SLI

    Processor
Intel CoreTM 2 Extreme Quad QX9300 (12MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

    Display
    17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 - (1200p) LCD

    Memory
    8GB DDR3 - 1333Mhz

    Hard drive Performance RAID:

    1TB - 2x 500 GB Solid State Drive - RAID 0

    Optical Drive
    Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Combo (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

Just the one question I asked seller and he confirmed was that there is 1tb of ssd and I am not sure if alienware even configures that.
seller has 100% positive feedback and sold 10 of these systems today I bought the last one he is from Thailand and the laptop is new sealed in box.

Or sould I just order this new refreshed m17x here are specs

    Intel® Core™ i7 820QM 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
    Dual 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 4870 in CrossfireX™
    17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p)
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz
    500GB 7,200RPM SATA-II HDD

    price $2,874

I know the one from ebay looks much better just wondering if the RGB led and the i7 are worth it.
    Thanks guys.

Get a lower model from dell with the base processor, then pick up the QX9300 for $502 from HP Spare parts. I'll find the link around here somewhere. Unless your going to use the 8GB RAM, 4GB should be plenty, save some money there too. Link coming in a few min. Also, I guarentee you it's not 1TB SSD otherwise the price would be insane. They don't make 512 SSDs cheap at all. Not sure if you can even really get one.

I say get the new one from dell, specs may not be as good but at least you have warranty if anything should happen.

Its ok I saw that link around with the hp model QX9300 but if I buy directly from alienware.com I will go with the i7 and 4 gigs ram like I posted the only reason I am asking is because the first laptop specs I posted are from ebay and it seems to be a very good deal.

    Thanks

OK, but as far as 1TB SSD, this should give you an idea of what it would cost if it were true. Also in the next month I may be selling my QX

With the issues of the M17x and sound quality I would go for the new verson. It why I change spec.

I am calling alienware now to see if they even sell the 1TB - 2x 500 GB Solid State Drive - RAID 0.
But even if it was a normal 1 gig 7200 rpm hard drive what do others think.
Im probly just going to go with the new i7.
