    when does dell/alienware take the money from your account?

    when does alienware/alienware take the cash from youre card? once youve recived the item or when its been shipped?

    usually its when its ready to be shipped.

    Yeah! They will withdraw money from your account when you are ordering to make sure there will be no problem w/ billing info you provide. Then they put it back and will take it again (for good if you decide to keep your purchase :D) when the item is shipped.

    They authorize your card for the amount which initially takes out the amount and comes back(shows up on your acct as pending). They only charge your card once your order is shipped and there is no cancelling after placing an order.

    You can cancel the order after you placed one.

    They do not charge your card at the time of order. They do what is called a credit card authorization to verify billing info as well as balance on account and make sure they will get paid once they actually charge the card at the time of shipping.

    The difference in between a pre-authorization and a charge then refund like you suggest is that on the pre-authorization you do not get charged fees not interest but you would on a transaction that is charged then refunded.
