hey hey hey folks, ive been here enjoying my m15x for about a month now, gotta say im very very happy with it indeed. but, oh yes, theres always a but, i want a bigger harddrive.this is where you lot come in, ive looked on AW and was thinking of getting a smart bay hdd, and biggest is 320GB but its only 5400rpm, theres a 200 GB at 7400rpm but dont think its big enough really. i want the quickest possible speed with at least 300GB really, more would be even better. im erring on side of smart bay because its easy to put in/out, and means i wouldnt have to reinstall m15x on the new harddrive like i would if i got an internal one. im not sure on an external hdd as there just a bit too big, and my AW laptop case is already bulging.

so, any recommendations would be welcome.

speed wise, the 320gb 5k4 should amost match the 200gb 7k2 because it has higher density. additionally, SB is heaps faster than an external HD.

oh btw, there are some new HD's out, one's a 320gb 7k2, the other a 500gb 5k4. can't remember by whom, but they exist.

EDIT: you can get empty SB harddrive chassis from AW.

SB accessories you can get only from AW directly. get an empty HD chassis, it's about 20 bucks. then pop in a 500gb or 320gb drive from newegg.

you have to make sure you order the empty SB though. You can't just buy a hardrive and expect it to work. I think the empty kit from AW is like $20.

for what it's worth AW offers a 500GB drive now as well

combine with the 500GB drive with the smart bay and you've got a TB
