hi all ive got this problem with my two cards. 4850 win 7
the second card has code 10 error wont start
does the crossfire cable have to be connected for the cards to work
i thought even if the crossfire cable was not installed that the cards would at least show up together with no faults i just would not be able to have crossfire.

    thanks for any help

Yes they should still work but the slave card will be doing nothing. Just tried it myself.

Where do you see error 10? Event Viewer?

As the others say it should work fine but you won't be able to use Crossfire, that's about it.

    No, the cards are different.

Edit: BTW, how are you determining it's your slave card with the issue?

Maybe I missed this, but why are you trying to run without the CFX cable? Were you trying to rule it out as the cause of a problem?

yes i was trying to update driver to 9.12
in the process i downloaded att tray tools
    i disabled digital signitures
then i lost other card (slave ) code 10 unable to start , this card has a problem a is not using any resorces.

i find it strange that ive bust it changing drivers, but ive got copper heat sinking on the gpus so i thought maybe the cable got nipped or something.

ive tried with the slave card in the master slot but it wont even boot into cmos.

first time i installed vista again both card were found and ok but as soon as i try to run vantage after 1 min of running it crashes/freezes and i have to reebot.

it does look like bad card or pci bus slot on motherboard :( any ideas i want to see if it has lost its bios in the card i cannot remeber what program it is to find bios in card.

but after 1 go thats it the card will not even fire up again. and if i do install drivers on reboot it freezes and wont load into windows
