I just purchased an Alienware m17x notebook and wanted to put Windows 7 RC 1 on it, but I encounter a BSOD on the splash screen before the installation even begins (booting from the disc of course). I tried using DBAN to wipe my hdd, but it failed as soon as it started and didn't delete a single file. The stop code that appears is apparently some kind of driver error double fault, but I have no idea what it could be that wouldn't already be on the setup disc. It doesn't make sense that DBAN won't work, though, unless the hdd is bad, but it seems to work just fine. if it is a driver problem, does anyone know what drivers I would have to slipstream in for 7 to install? Thanks.

As far as I know, Windows 7 RC1 should just install, being that it already has sata drivers. Ive only ever seen problems with installing older operating systems on a sata based system. You might want to try switching your hard drive mode if you can find it in the the bios.

update: It seems as though some people have had issues burning a good copy. Does your copy install on another system?
