Name=REALTEK RTL8187SE Wireless LAN Driver

You got your in?
-
does it say Intel on the config site?
-
Wireless Network Card: Internal Wireless b/g (Full Mini-Card) it never says intel
-
well there you go then. don't see what all the fuss is about.
-
I was under the impression it's intel, because didn't read carefully,.
"Internal" look likes "Intel" when you are too excited.
how 's the quality of realtek wireless? MSI wind uses it, it must be cheap? At least cheaper than old intel 3xxx and 4xxx series, or else why don't they use old intels. -
Yeah, the Intel one is the upgraded Wireless - that's the one I picked up for +$25

Yes - if it was an Intel card, Alienware would be advertising that as would any notebook maker.
I have a generic wireless card in my HP - Broadcom I think - and it works perfectly fine. I test systems all the time with the latest-and-greatest Intel cards and I don't notice the difference, so that's why I don't pay for the Intel ones. Intels are supposedly better on battery life, but for me it doesn't matter, and it surely doesn't matter on a system like the M17. -
have you try realtek wirelss before? -

Would like to clarify the one it comes by default is an integrated RealTek b/g wireless adapter. Optional wireless card is from intel.
Thank you. -

b and g he said, therefore, up to 54mb.
-

sheesh, obviously not, or it wouldn't cost more. the intel card also does Draft-N (speeds up to 130mb or something like that), as well as MiMo (multiple input multiple output), which apparently boosts the theoretically possible speed up to 450mb.
-
But my isp only provides like 10mb, and i dont even get that haha so i'll stick with the built in one thanks
-
You lose the bragging right that you have the first draft N wireless card.
Also, you can transfer files within your draft N network faster provided everyone in the network is also draft N.
Yeah, i picked the built-in one. -
all m15x and m17x have Draft-N too, you know. it's being sold for a while now.
