Since no one has a clue what's going with the Landfall (maybe landfall fell on Alienware/Dell and all the new models got squashed). Lets have a little show of opinion what would be more ideal to you! (Just for fun, please don't comment on the realism of my specs/price.... it's based on the most probable assumptions)

    M13x:
    Aluminium Chassis (ofcourse)
    13.3"
    1680x1050 (720p)
    P-series CPU (eg. P9700) maybe even Q9000!
    Single ATi4830/NV GTS260m
    Single HDD
    DDR3 Ram (ofcourse)
    2.5 to 3kg
Base price $1200 (P-series CPU, no quad, no SSD, 4gb ram...)

    M15x:
    Aluminium Chassis (ofcourse)
    15"
    1900x1200 (1200p)
    Q-QX-series CPU (eg. QX9300) maybe even i7/i5!
    Single ATi4870/NV GTX280m (upgradeable to ATi58XX/NV GTX3XXm)
    Single HDD
    DDR3 Ram (ofcourse)
    3.5 to 4.2kg
Base price $1600 (Q9000, no SSD, 4gb ram)

alienware is synonymous for gaming. 13inch does not equal gaming. 13inch is too small.

Yeah quite frankly, m13x would be wrong, and it would be unbelieably fat to fit "spectacular" hardware in, it could rival the p310 but thats it, however XGP technology with the ATI blend in combination would be the way forward for this little machine. :)

That resolution will not work on that screen size....DPI is too high. That's why 16:9 is better. ;þ

    Google Alienware Sentia.

For my stepdaughter, I think I'd like to see a M13x - would be a little easier for her to handle....

The 13 inch would rock even for games..... I would trade it off for my PSP on trips :)

If such a thing ever existed the base price would easily be double. Also 1440x900 would probably be the rez.

and how much is the base price of the Sony Z or the lenovo x301. That would probably be closer to the base price if this system existed.

    Quit holding on to 16:10.

I'd put a make believe M13x in the price range of an XPS 1330 or Studio XPS 13 when they were new. $1400-2000.

Hahaha yeah i guess there's still some bad guess work by me.

13.3".... probably 1440x900, I said 1680 because I hoped "new" screen technology could be expected from Alienware.

If the price started at $1500 would you guys still consider it? I named it $1200 because I wanted to make a differentiation between the models.

I think we could use a new 15inch and also a 13inch as well.

Considering that Alienware is a brand, generally, for gamers, I'd agree that the thirteen inch model is slightly too small. However, one might want to play their games on an external monitor - but I wouldn't consider this to be the case.
The thirteen inch model is great because it can be jam-packed with RAM and they often boast a decent CPU. The only downside is that it's too small for any real gaming. Yes, it's cheaper, but you've got to consider the practicality and functionality for the task at hand.
Personally, I'd go for the thirteen inch model because I like the smaller, yet powerful machines. But for you, assuming you're going to be gaming, definitely consider the fifteen inch model.
