The refurb store on apple.com shows the following:

    15" MBP
    2.2GHz C2D
    2GB memory, 120GB hard drive
    8600M GT w/128MB memory
    $1449

Before today, that same configuration was $1699, right? There's a similar price drop for the 2.4GHz configuration as well (now $1649).

What do you mean? Even after this update, you'll be hard pressed to find anybody selling a MacBook Pro for under $1300, and they've been out for a while now.

Apple is cutting prices drastically on all old stock so they can focus on the new stuff. They won't sell any old computers if they price them only $20 less than the new ones.

Apple products do retai n their value very well.

That is a steal! Especially the 2.4 model. If only I needed a new one and could afford it!

They are all pretty well priced right now, which has put me into some severe research phase to find the best "bang for the buck" for my brother who wants to buy one this week.

When the SR Macbook Pros came out last year, I don't think the previous generations were priced anywhere this low.

From $2000 to $1450 in less than a year...that's a pretty steep drop.
