yeah, i've read a lot about that issue. but im not really a "power user", just basic web browsing and watching movies/animes online. i was thinking that the 2.1gHz would be sufficient for that. oh and about the discount, im not expecting any giveaways for us, canadians. well, hopefully.

I don't know where you get that. I've gamed a lot in windows (for what the x3100 can handle :p) and it never got hot for me.
Also one thing to consider is, Apple finally got rid of the combo drive, as well as lowered the price on the base model. IMHO I think it's a good deal. :)

EDIT: Hmm, that one from best buy has the combo drive. It's obviously a clearance item.
I just checked the Apple canada online store, and the base model goes for $1149CDN so if you don't mind having a combo drive, the one from best buy might be a good deal. :)

My mom, my aunt, and many of my friends have a Macbook..
the area under the screen gets hot even if you're just browsing the web, listening to music, etc
But other than that area the rest of the Macbook is pretty cool (from what I can remember).

It's possible they have an older model, santa rosa or before. I'm sorry, but mine does not get hot.

    Well you're lucky then..
If you do a search, you can see that a lot of people's Macbooks get pretty hot..
But you're right, apple probably fixed it in the newer model
