i just downloaded the new version of aim on my mac (4.7 or something) and there's no option to use a mic or web cam. What's wrong with that...Is the aim for mac just not that evolved yet?

iChat is Apple's own AIM client, it lets you use a mic and webcam. You should use it instead of the official client. I don't think the official client's been updated since like 2004.

The last version of AIM for Mac is already very old. Use Apple's iChat, it supports AIM accounts and is much better.

i think you should use adium. it is freeware and many others also recommend this program, i really like it much better than ichat, and if you ever use webcam chats, i would use skype, its also for free.

If you just have aim, it's better to stay with ichat, imo, cause i wouldnt want one client for video chats and another for normal chatting. ichat 4 rocks anyway, so stick with that.

Yeah, I second Adium. However, it just... does not support vid chat.

Otherwise, there is no reason to use iChat over Adium.
