    Nice! Thanks for the info!

I'm getting some additional permissions warnings:
    Code:
Warning: SUID file "usr/libexec/load_hdi" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources/DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Install.framework/Versions/A/Resources/runner" has been modified and will not be repaired.
    Permissions differ on "usr/lib/libssl.0.9.dylib", should be -rwxr-xr-x , they are lrwxr-xr-x .
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Admin.framework/Versions/A/Resources/readconfig" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Admin.framework/Versions/A/Resources/writeconfig" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/libexec/authopen" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
The ARDAgent warning was from before. I'm starting to wonder what's going on with this? Still, I doubt it's anything to worry about.

    So pimp right now.

Dock is smoother under 10.5.1, that was really bothering me for some reason.

Under 10.5 my dock was kinda jerky.

So is a new thread going to be made for every update for OS X from now on? :p

Just joking around. Glad to hear Leopard's running smoother and some bugs are being fixed! :)

Sam - Maybe you can make a sticky on updates, keeping them all together as they come out?

Not a bad idea...the thing is, really these OS X updates don't come that often...so I don't think there will be a need for a sticky for that. Once most of the Leopard bugs are fixed, OS X updates will become less frequent.

I hope this update also fixes these annoying typing glitches. Sometimes you'll select an area to type and start typing, than the page suddenly goes somewhere else, as if you're typing shortcuts instead of text into the text field. :(

this patch might actually have created more problems...

Today my new MBP has crashed 3 times after trying to wake up.
Might have been there before, but this definitely wasnt fixed...

    Are you serious?
Is that a glitch, or an added option?
If it's an added option, are there any other GUI customization options?

i tried to wake it up but either:
-the screen would be black and the fan would be running (force shutdown) OR
-it would have the same issue as previously mentioned, but the screen would turn on and the mouse and dock would be extremely choppy (reboot fixed)

Both have happened a couple times

Also, My dock quit out on me (i have it on autohide) it would not come up and i was unable to minimize any windows or open anything new. Just rebooted and it was fine.

I have a brand new macbook pro and i upgraded from tiger to leopard with a few minor, non system altering programs. (ie neo office, adium)

Yeah I did change my background, I usually change them often, but now it's not transparent anymore, whatever the background.

I'll post a pic later when I boot back into OS X :(

Well, that's odd, since if you're signature is correct, we have the exact same MBP's. So it's not because of a different graphics card.

For mine, I wiped the hard drive clean, than did a fresh install of Leopard. What about you? Did you do a fresh install or an upgrade?

My MB came pre-installed w/Leopard and 10.5.1 has done more good than bad... so far. Most noticeably, the fan doesn't come on as often... either that, or it's really quiet now.

Yeah, the signature is correct, and I did a fresh install of Leopard.

It's quite funny, after another restart (I went back to XP to game a bit) now it's transparent again, yay :D

Weird stuff happening around here ;)

Hrm? What do you mean the menubar is not transparent anymore?

Mine certainly is transparent, and I love it! I do wish they would add options to turn that off for the people who have trouble reading it.
Wish they would have removed the stupid plane on the dock though. I can't wait till cleardock gets updated to work with tiger so i don't have to see that ugly glass pane.

But so far, it's much snappier. I was having issues with like, firefox refusing to come in front of other apps. If I was typing in Adium, and apple-tabed to FF, FF wouldn't be placed in front of Adium or any other app. Though that seems fixed (so far).

Pauses are gone as well. But I'm also getting weird NSConditionLock errors in my eclipse projects now. Not sure what thats about, but thats since I did my upgrade to Leopard. So... thats not fixed :-/

But I did an upgrade, not a clean install, so may go try a clean install tonight.

So are people's assessments positive in general? Would you recommend the upgrade to 10.5.1?

I purchased Leopard almost as soon as it came out; upgraded my Tiger, and used it for a couple of days. Due to 3rd party software compatibility problems, I went back to Tiger, and I decided not to upgrade before an official update and 3rd party patches came out. Both have happened however, and I'm thinking whether to wait more or not. Many of the things that disappointed me with the GUI are now also being fixed, for the most part, so....

Is Leopard as stable and secure as 10.4.11? How many updates usually make a new OS as 'stable and secure' as its predecessor?

Not having a transparent Menu Bar on a supported graphics card is a known Bug I hoped would be fixed with 10.5.1. Instead, my card has been listed as not supported for certain effects. This has affected nearly every type of Mac with a supported card.

Hrm, has anyone had text capturing issues?

If I go from say, Eclipse to Mori, type some notes, go back into Eclipse, then back into Mori, I loose typing function.
Same if I go between other apps. Keeps freaking happening.
Granted, I've only had Leopard installed for a few days, and I love it... but this new bug SUCKS.

MacRumors has a survey on this topic. And they seem to have concluded,
Mac OS X 10.5: Menu bar appears solid instead of translucent
Mac OS X 10.4: Requirements for Quartz Extreme and Core Image graphics

One important addition I think this one is the Firewall feature "Allow only Essential Services".
