Me too. Saw the update an hour ago.
-
finally exposé on the MBPs with nvidia cards have been fixed
-
For the serious part I like the fact that they are releasing updates in a more reasonable matter than the opponent. You can think about calling it stable now. Maybe some of the bad reputation this released has gained will fade away.
Who would of thought: MacOS has bugs...Steve Jobs, you could of fooled me. (Joking) -
Mac OS X (Leopard) 10.5.2 Update Released

One more thing... Leopard Graphics Update 1.0
From ArsTechnica
Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 -
One small bug, so far - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307431
-
Haven't had the chance to test the update yet, but someone with a new Santa Rosa MBP can tell me if it fixes the screen-going-dim or black bug, despite what power saving settings you use...

**EDIT**
Just left my system idle for 10 minutes, and my screen isn't black when I come back! w00t! Before, after 3 minutes - my screen would go black, no matter what, if I didn't move my mouse in that time. Yay! -
spiffy update. Expose is much smoother now, as smooth as it was on Tiger even.
-
FYI, it is completely normal for your Mac to take longer to boot the next time after installing this update.
-
stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
Kool. Didn't get an update notification yet. I'll probably wait till then end of the week to install it anyway just cus I dont feel like restarting.
-
Wow my Safari feels so much faster now. But that might be due to the fact that I haven't restarted OS X or Safari for about a week now. I wonder if they fixed the memory leak.
-
I hope so Budding. That would be very nice. Well istat pro will tell.
-
Downloading now for my iMac and MBP. Cant wait to test and give it a go.
-
Is it just my eyes or did windows displayed in expose get blurry? Not Cool!
-
The correct term would be "snappier"
-
Haha, I hear ya.
I think I'll wait till the weekend too. -
Just installed it on my MacBook... I think they finally got the X3100 to play nicely with OS X graphics. I noticed that all Santa Rosa MacBooks showed some choppiness with Dashboard and Expose... but with 10.5.2, it's noticeably smoother!
Thank you Apple. -
Seriously, this is the best thing since whoever invented whatever. My WiFi is about (unscientific observation here) 100 million times stronger!!!
For real!

Well, yes, Expose works somewhat smoother under Spaces; so that's good. I appreciate the option to turn off the transparent menu bar (thereby reduce the transparency of menus) as well. List view on Stacks is also very welcome.
Yet, the real improvements are hopefully 'under the hood'. Especially in the security and resource-management departments. -
I'm just installing it right now but I was wondering mine said it was 341MB in size yet some people are reporting that their download was around 180MB. What gives?
-
Dunno, but Apple did just release a graphics update as well. Maybe yours is bundled with that?
-
That's not it cos after finishing the update to 10.5.2 I did an update check and there was the Leopard Graphics update 1.0 (48.6MB) so in total I got 390MB worth of updates!
-
Does anyone else STILL have the glitch where the first letter of a line of text is missing?
hat the hell is going on? *sighs*
Here's hoping update 10.5.3 fixes it... My next laptop is SO going to be a Windows based machine, as I'm fed up with Apple... -
Ya because Vista is SOOOO much better then OS X
-
Is this a common problem? Because I have yet to experience it once.
And you think you know frustrations now? Wait till you start using Vista.
-
*laughs* With Vista hell is expected, but with OS X I was expecting error free computing. Much like I had with Tiger, I don't remember having any problems during the few months I used it. Than again, Tiger was pretty well maintained at that point. It'll be awhile before the bugs are removed from Leopard.
Still yet, I HATE the bugs and they irritate me so.
Edit: Honestly, I've yet to seriously use Vista. I still prefer Windows XP. I doubt I'll even use Vista, by the time I save up to buy another laptop, it'll most likely be a PC and it'll probably use Windows Seven. Skipping Vista entirely, hehe. -
This kind of fanboyism doesn't do any good, nor it really reflects Vista. Apple has only a few laptop and desktops to look after and make drivers for, thing which they do pretty well, but in the real world things are different. This is just my opinion on the matter. And Microsoft has released SP1, which greatly improves Vista. And Apple just released the .2 update, so...bugs are everywhere, mostly fixed, as you can't expect a release not to have bugs. Not even the best beta testers or a higher number of them can predict future bugs or find all of them. Don't blame the developers all the time, they are humans. If you want your products to has as little bugs as possible make sure you put your effort into helping the development.
-
Not to derail the thread but I have not had one single problem with Vista since it released. This is of course aside from lazy 3rd party drivers taking a while. Other than that not one BSOD, not one annoying glitch, nothing.
Compared to kernal panics and random bugs in Leopard all over. To the point where I would have to turn off wifi before sleeping my laptop so that I wouldn't have to deal with a laggy mouse.
-
Laggy mouse was caused by iStat for me. Removing it solved every problem and sleep has worked flawlessly ever since. Other than that, I haven't had 1 single problem in Leopard. Not one. Vista on the other hand LOVES to give me a BSOD on start-up. I find it a pain in the ass to use, but maybe that's just because I'm used to OS X's interface now. Other than that though, I haven't had any major problems with Vista, but having the BSOD hit me in the face on start up every now and then is annoying.

I've never ever seen anything like that, explain more? -
Sorry, but Vista has way too much transparency. Those ugly window borders and even the gadget bar, it's just a complete mess. All that fading in and out when opening and closing windows, I could never really use Vista daily, it's just horrible.
Apple's aesthetics in Leopard are clean and transparencies are correctly implemented to complement the UI and not make it messy like Vista.
-
Okay guys... let's get back on topic here! We're here to discuss 10.5.2... not Vista vs OS X.
-
Yeah. My Safari doesn't beachball as often as it used to anymore, and it only uses up 175MB of RAM when I have around 20 MSDN Library website tabs open. Not having to use LeoColorbar to fix the menu bar anymore is nice. Lists is useful for the Application window, but I find grid view more useful for folders with less items, such as the Downloads folder.
Haven't noticed anything else yet. -
Oh yes, we should get back on topic. Although Stacks really didn't bother me the way it was but I like the improvements a lot particularly now that we can set it to use the actual folders in the dock rather than use mock ups.
Not too happy that Apple gave in to people complaining about the transparent menus so now it looks like Tiger has it with a more opaque look. Other than that apps open much quicker and the OS feels very much prime time. -
Where can I see the option to set it to not be transparent?
-
System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver. Choose the Desktop tab and look for the checkbox at the bottom.
-
I find it funny that in a way, OS X relies on Vista and Microsoft's OSs to stay popular and in the majority. Otherwise, there would be a lot more malware / viruses floating around for X.
Anyway, .2 is working great on my C2D iMac. My ubuntu samba share is no longer fussy. -
It doesn't happen as often anymore where my first letter or number isn't registered. Though it still happens.
This is after a fresh install on my c2d macbook.
The update worked though. -
I think this is a great update. Fixed all of my problems, including all iChat crap
-
I haven't downloaded the 10.5.2 update yet, but I do want to comment on this here.
You may want to try out a Linux LiveCD to ensure it's not an OS problem. If it happens in Linux, it's gonna happen in any future revision of Mac OS as well.
Personally I like the translucent menu bar, and I wish I could enable more translucency in Leopard. I've got my terminal windows transparent, as well as X-Chat, but it's not quite enough for my tastes. -
Still a little upset they did not fix the memory problem in safari. But it runs very fast.
