I didn't see any posts on it, so thought I'd alert you all that 10.5.3 is now available on software update.

I just wish Apple could get their Airport working properly. Just such a crock! Sometimes, waking any of my Mac systems from sleep, the Airport just won't connect to my wireless network, or ANY wireless network. I have to turn off Airport and then turn it back on. I've repeated this on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in different places. Hopefully this is one of the fixes...

198mb for my Macbook Pro.
Cheers for the heads up! -

Dang. The combo update is 536 mb.
Not a big deal for broadband, but heaven forbid you have dial-up.
I hope this puts Airport issues to bed once and for all. I want to be able to turn off SSID broadcast on my router and not have OS X piss and moan about the network not being available. It works perfectly on the Windows XP side of my MBP, so this is clearly an OS X issue. -
I just wish they would bring back quicktime preview for audio/video files in finder. You know when column view, so I can skip forward and back and such..

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
Thanks. I'm a bit nervous cus .2 wiped my system. I'll upgrade when I have some spare time incase something happens again...
-
Weird...
Was 420mb for my MBP and my dad's MBA. -
Mwahahahaha! I have no update because I'm on 10.4 and nothing needs to be fixed
.
I'll join you guys with updates when 10.6 comes out. -

Well apparently this brings contact sync between Google and the iPhone. That's a nice addition. I think I may wait a day or two on this. I have had good luck with updates, but don't want to really risk it just yet. 10.5.2 fixed my major issues so I don't have a need to really update.
-
since i'm still running tiger, i'm not invited to the party.
-
198MB on my iMac and iBook G4; havent ran it yet on the MBP. I do all my updates on the G4 since its my test machine. If it blows that up, then I stray away!! So far everythings been good though
-
198 on my Macbook aswell... that's 3 minutes tops
It might be my imagination, but sometimes I think I got the missing-first letter thing going on lately. Or I somehow increasingly miss-press or something... eitherway, nice list of fixes I'd say. -
It was 420MB on my MacBook... of course I don't really notice a difference after the update, but I'm glad it fixed stuff =) (albeit stuff I didn't know was faulty)

After 10.5.3, Time Machine gets stuck at 15MB on 1.6GB
. It's been 45 minutes and haven't moved.
-
I needed to reinstall Mac OS X on my MacBook Pro anyway, I've been playing around with kexts and Xcode and it was getting flaky, looks like I'll be running the combo update for this tonight.
-
No real issues before the update... Still nothing. -
Yeah i got 420. I guess i am special. Lol hope this does not f up my system.
-
Same here - installed and all is well so far.

It did improve my wifi a bit. I had problems with some of the routers at university before but not it works much better. The connecting process doesnt take as long anymore. Before I had to try 2-3 times sometimes and turn off wifi and back on again. Seems to be fixed now.
-
I haven't noticed a different before or after... guess that means all went well?
-
Thanks for the info
its a 420MB update for me too....doing it now -

I got 420MB too. But what is the difference between combo and normal version ? Is combo version for all mac ?

The combo update is for all releases of Leopard (10.5, 10.5.1, 10.5.2) whereas the other update is only for users of 10.5.2.
And grrr....this dumb thing still won't connect to my wireless network if I disable SSID broadcast on my router. No problems with my wife's notebook (running XP), my desktop PC (running Vista), and the MBP running XP through Boot Camp. Frickin' a. This isn't a huge, huge thing, but there's absolutely no reason whatsoever why this works just fine on Windows but not on Mac OS. -

Besides, a would-be hacker would have a rougher time hacking into my network than most, being that I use WPA 2 with a random, 63-character passphrase. Speaking of, it's been a while, and I should probably change it. As such, I'm not too worried about having my SSID broadcast, but I would like the hidden option to work for me. -
I experienced an app crash the other day and went to software update and 10.5.3 wasn't up yet. I'll pull it down tonight.
As for hidden ssid... I experienced the opposite issue. When I hid my ssid, the kids' windows boxes would randomly lose track of it so I finally gave in and left it on with mere wep security. I'm so glad I got those windows boxes outa my hair. They will be available at our upcoming garage sale. -
Just installed 10.5.3 and the security update and so far no problems. -
WPA2, while you can get around it with some time and patience, is about as strong a level of security that most home users require (corporate systems, of course, are another ball game entirely). If anything, my experience has been that hiding the SSID makes your network more enticing than if it's being broadcast (my experience in talking with people who do have a hobby of breaking people's encryption, not my own experiences of driving around to do it myself)
Anyhow, I guess this is reasonably off topic. It sucks that the update didn't resolve your issue - have you filed your complaint with Apple? I understand that this has been an issued since 10.4.8, but maybe if you address it as John Mayer you'll get a response *grin* -

The 10.5.3 update seems to be OK otherwise, though I haven't played with it too much. -
Like many others here, 10.5.2 seemed fine and 10.5.3 broke and fixed nothing which isn't a bad thing. So far I haven't noticed any difference running 10.5.3 and my update was 420MB in size.
I have a question to the mac experts here; My MBP came with only the 10.5(.0) disks so if I was to fresh install everything I would use my disk and then later run the software update which essentially downloads and installs the 10.5.3 update and whatever other update that's been released since 10.5.
I read about "combo" and "non-combo" updatesand wondering if there is anyway I can download the latest update (10.5.3) and all other separate updates and burn them on to a DVD, for example, so that I don't have to re-download everything at the time of the fresh install?
In the windows environment for example I used to have a standalone downloaded installer for service packs so that when I did a fresh install of the OS I could update to the latest SP without needing internet/network access which was safer in that the latest security fixes got installed prior to the system being exposed online.
I'd like to do the same thing with OSX. -

I installed 10.5.3 last night. 420 MB on my Penryn Macbook. No problems so far. I was so happy to see Parental Controls on the list of fixes as I have had repeated problems with that feature.
-
Installed on my month old MBP and the only difference thus far is my cold boot takes a few extra seconds. I see the circle spin for a few extra seconds.
-
no problems so far in 10.5.3.......my penryn macbook is working fine..........!!
it had no probs before also........hehe -
-
I notice some lag with Firefox ,anyone know why?
-
-
Upgraded to 10.5.3 as well, everything seems and feels so much snappier and faster. That with upgrading to Firefox 3 seems to have made life so much more comfy!
-
-
Installed on my MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz, everything is working perfectly!
-
Maybe this is totally unrelated but Source games in bootcamp started flaking out *right* after I installed this update. And I mean total crashes that require hard reboots. Annoying as sin.
