I guess there are alot of apple geeks frothing at the mouth for this update (me included).

Thanks. Downloading the update for my MBP.
-
Yeah this will probably take a while.
I'm downloading at 800-1mb a sec.
Now at a constant 1.20-1.23 mb a sec. 3 min left. -
I was able to install on my MBP pretty easily, can't say the same for the 2 MB in the house. I got a message about the file being corrupted. I decided to try again and now it says it will be hours to download. Guess I'll wait a couple of days.
-
11 MB/s here. Took about 20 seconds to download
-
what does this update do anyways?

One thing I wonder is that given the length of time it seemed to take for this update to come out, since there seemed to be so many betas that were reported, will this be the last update for Leopard? Hopefully not. There is certainly enough time before Snow Leopard to 10.5.8 and perhaps a final 10.5.9 after Snow Leopard ships to finalize things just like 10.4.11 for Tiger. -
I updated. I was rather hoping SL came outside instead of 10.5.7. hehehe
-
thanks, i was looking at that as well and i was wondering if there were other things not listed
-
Just updated, and I'm running flawlessly!
Nothing I can notice that's been wrong, so it's been a good update so far. *knock on wood*
-
Well this is an amazing update, the whole systems is more responsive and Flash works amazingly well now! Safari is also smoother.
-
Almost done, downloading at 1.4mb/s.

Also had the corruption issue first time round. Second time was a charm and download speeds were much better... took around 10-15min.
So far no problems here after the install.
The whole OS does feel a bit more responsive but that could be just wishful thinking.

Same here. Corruption issue first time. flawless install second time. running like a charm.
-
I got corruption using software update, but no problem using the file downloaded from the direct link posted above.
I felt that my CPU run cooler after the update.
+1 for 10.5.7! -
My CPU usage seems to be the same, mabye a bit less, but it's still a successful update in my mind.
-
Yup cooler cpu. In the upper 50's during internet browsing and listening to music.
-
-
wow!!Must be really cool at your place.
-
I installed the update and ran Mac OSX during the day. It does appear to be running cooler but it may be that the fan is running faster. I hear a slight whine from the keyboard area that I didn't notice before.
Oops. I forgot that they turn off the AC in my office after 5:00 PM. I'll have to test this next week on the fans. No problems whatsoever with this upgrade - I even checked that fanout menu thing. -
CPU at 50 currently and fans running at 2000rpm.
-
It wasn't the Mac making the noise - it was another machine in the office. So I guess that the update just runs cooler.
-
Is anyone else's internet MUCH faster in all browsers since the update?
I have a feeling they did some tweaking to the networking code or something?
Either way, WIN -
I was hoping that this update might fix the choppy flash HD video playback but obviously NOT

Mac OS X 10.5.7 update boosting netbook battery life
-
I went ahead and updated to see what it was about. My CPU temps were hovering between 48 - 50 degrees just web surfing before the update. Now it hovers around 55 degrees, with the same fan speed. :\
-
I am between 62 and 72 while web browsing. This is hot.
-
Since updating my scrolling seems "jumpier"? Like it's stuttering?
-
I do sense an occasional slight stutter while scrolling in Safari. I didn't even see it until you mentioned it so in my case I think its just me looking for it that makes it happen. Opera and FireFox are much worse with the stutter though.

10.5.7 definitely feels faster than 10.5.6, especially the performance of the 9600M GT (which is probably because of NVIDIA's updated drivers being included). My MacBook Pro used to have the fans running a lot more before the update (the fans didn't come on that much, though), now it's running cooler and the fans come on less, even when watching HD video. This is a really good update for any Macs with NVIDIA video cards, and my MBP is running better overall.
-
My CPU is also running cooler, and the temperatures are down 3-4 degrees.
-
It needs to be June 8 already -
Sorry guys,
can one download the the entire update (400MB+ of data) from Apple directly, and keep on CD/DVD to use on other Mac machines? i.e. stand alone download? -
-
10.5.7 is pretty stable.
-
I have Quicktime ,Front Row issues opening .AVI files after 10.5.7 update. It take a long time to open them. And i paid attention that it depends on file size (big avi files takes more time to open). For example 300 mb avi file 30 sec to open,600 mb avi file 60 sec to open, 1200 mb avi file about 3 min to open. And it goes to a spinning ball.
I am using Perian 1.1.3,DivX codec,Quicktime 7.6.
VLC player opens everything flawless, but i don't want to use it and i am using a lot of Front Row.
I tried to remove all accept the perian codec it doesn't help.
I tried to remove all accept the DivX codec it doesn't help.
I tried to reinstall Quicktime it doesn't help.
I tried to reinstall Perian codec it doesn't help.
I tried to reinstall DivX codec it doesn't help.
Somebody help me. -
Hmm not having any issues opening any avi files on my comp.
-
I suffered a big system lockup today that thawed out in about 30 seconds.
my iTunes music stopped playing and my mouse cursor was movable. But the problem was anything that i had open, which was a browser and some preview windows, were not manipulable at all. Infact the title bar of each window would show animation when I highlighted the minimize, maximize, close buttons but when I actually clicked them for action nothing occured and my mouse was still movable.
I hope they get this fixed. -

Flash is layered on Javascript so Javascript performance is crucial to Flash performance.
-
-
I looked around on the web and couldn't find a block diagram but I could find articles on how to program the two so that they work together. I just recall something from somewhere in a mozilla article that Flash ran on JS but I could be wrong.
-
So far so good for me! I did experience a freezing issue as someone mentioned earlier, but it may have been due to virex. Update didnt take too long for me and i updated it almost as soon as it was announced by apple.
-
well i updated today and i haven't god any problems by this time
*knock on woods* like someone said hahaha
