I was told with the MBP (which is to big for what I'm looking for) Has a separate keyboard like a PC laptop where if you spill something or the keyboard is not functioning you can take it out and replace it. (Was not hard to do on a Dell 8600)

The MB is a single piece unit and therefore can not be repaired by myself I was told. How long does it take Apple to repair things like this if I took it into a store and how much do they charge for something like that? You can find parts for PC laptops all over the net in online stores and on ebay, but I do not see many parts for the MB's.

If you have AppleCare Coverage, then if the keyboard doesn't function they'll replace/repair it for free for three years.

Don't quote me on it, but I believe if the MacBook is within its 1-year limited warranty and the keyboard's malfunction is technical and not human-caused, then Apple should still replace it for free. I'm not totally sure though, check with the other members of the forum.

Well, you can't technically replace the keyboard on the MBP unless you want to void your warranty. And I dunno how easy it would be.

I wish it had a keyboard that had the latches where you could easily remove it if it needed replacing/cleaning.

smartsam11 is absolutely correct, if the keyboard's malfunction is technical and not human-caused (liquid spillage, etc.) Apple will replace it at an authorized service provider or an Apple Store under warranty. And this goes for the 2 extra years the Applecare Protection Plan gives you also.

That is good to know. Does Apple offer any accident protection? I doubt I would ever need it, but just wondering what the cost of it would be. I checked there website, but didn't see anything about it.

Nope, they don't offer it. I've heard of insurance programs you can buy that will cover laptops from accidental damage.
I know a lot of those ADP programs are complete BS. They will claim that it was intentional damage and not fix a **** thing. Thats what Gateway does and has done to people I know.

I hate this kind of nonsense. It'd be like changing a lightbulb voiding the insurance on your house.
