hey all. i'm really loving the new 13" MBP especially the size and battery life. however, i'm also a pretty hardcore css gamer and the only thing holding me back from buying it is the possibility that it might not work perfectly on the 13". I would also love to save money from purchasing the 15" mbp w/ the dedicated gpu.

so any of you out there try counter-strike source on your new 13" mbp at full settings? what's the fps?

    thanks!

i cant not even max css with 16x qsaa on my macbook pro. if you drop the aa down lower you should be fine with any of the o series cards however.

This is from a macrumors thread: here

I assume if he can get 53 on lost coast's stress test, css shouldn't be difficult to max out.

    And another poster:
I max css out at 1920x1200, but that's using the 9600m. No way for me to check the 9400m personally.

What resolution, setting are you planning to "max out"? If you're a really hardcore CSS player, then Macbook's IGP won't do well. E.g. playing at 1920x1200 with 4x/8x AA and everything maxed out with 60FPS+ probably won't be possible on Macbook. The source engine can produce stunning quality which can bring down even the most power computer and GPU while still giving a chance for those old/crappy computer a chance to play at descent frame rates.

well, maxed out meaning running css with the native resolution of the uMB and all the settings set on high. i don't think the MB can even run a 1920x1200 resolution, can it?

It can, just not at native resolution. Even my netbook can run at 1920x1200 resolution.

uMB will probably be able to handle almost everything on high @ native resolution without the AA stuff.

Yeah but max settings like 16xaa is ridiculous and unnecessary. CSS came out what? 5 years ago? You might not be able to play it maxed but almost any computer with a decent gpu can play it on high 30fps+

No AA and no AF, most likely. Maybe not max resolution either, but I'm not sure.
