I have been speculating over this prospect giving the direction that Apple took with the starting price of the 24" iMac (upgrade everything else and downgrade the VRAM).
I mean, this is something I would like to see, but I wonder if it is a smart move on Apple's part given how much they make off the current MBP's with the so called Apple Tax.
And, if they made this move, one has to wonder if it still would be considered a Pro.

The MacBook Pro hasn't been a pro since they went glossy and underlined that by using the inferior Lucent Agere FW-chipset (and further emphasized this un-pro-ness by making it impossible to use a an Expresscard-fw adaptor under OS X).
The only "pro" about the MacBook Pro is the three letters spelling P.R.O. -
I kind of agree though. The only thing "Pro" about it is the 15" screen. Otherwise I could sufficed with MB specs. -
I don't even think the 15" screen can be described as pro (for a laptop, of course): A) it's glass on top of glossy, and B) we're writing 2009, yet it still has a resolution of 1440x900.
In fact, I consider the MB "pro" nothing more than a super sized MacBook - i.e. a big consumer laptop.
And, yes, unfortunately, this message was typed on a 15" MBP - at least this one has the good FW-chipset (Texas Instruments).
15" Macbook/Macbook Pro with integrated graphics for less?
