Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase a new macbook pro pretty soon primarily for school and gaming. I know that some will say get a windows machine, but I just love the weight and portability of the mbp as well as the applecare warranty, and plus most of the games I play will run on mac os. If I were to buy one it would either be between the 15" mbp non retina display models. But my question is that I'm wondering if there is a huge difference between the NVIDIA GeForce GT512 mb gddr5 video card and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 1gb gddr5 video card? I don't plan to run games on max just on medium to high. Or should I just get the previous gen mbp with the AMD Radeon 6770m 1gb gddr5, or would it be a little bit outdated now?

    Retina vs Regular

    Regular

-2.5" User accessible SATA 3 HDD bay (the retina only has 1 mSATA slot, not user replaceable)
-ODD, can be removed for 2nd HDD caddy (SATA 3), retina does not have
    -1 Thunderbolt port compared to retina's 2
-Old style magsafe charger port, retina uses magsafe v2
-Thicker, possibly better cooling system. Or equal with less noise output compared to retina
    -1600x900 screen, 1050p (yes 1050) opt
-repleacable RAM slot, max'd at 16GB, max frequency is 1866MHz. default comes with 1600MHz 4 or 8GB
-No HDMI port, retina has 1 HDMI port (vid/aud)
    -Heavier compared to retina
-Philips screw instead of proprietary pentalobe on the retina

DO NOT TAKE THE 512MB vRAM model, pay more for future proofing with the 1GB GT 650M

    I hope this helps :)

not too bad.. but not really much better than a Retina, and not much cheaper ($500ish) if you config it correctly (the way I'd want it), but you can set 2 rMBPs on top of each-other and take up less space than that...

Nice system but i'm set on a mac and not really interested in an msi especially since its the same size as the notebook that I have now.
