Just saw it at engadget, pretty cool and hopefull is that much tad cheaper than the 15.4' pros.
-
Here's the source for that article http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20061026PR206.html
Foxconn will be making it. -
I wonder what will the price tag be? 13,3" notebooks are usually more expensive than 15,4" with a similar config, but somehow I just don't see that happening here.
-
Q2 2007? Quite honestly, I really don't care.
/ -
it will probably take the price point of the black macbook pricepoint. they will make the black and whites the same price like with the ipod. the only thing is that i hope they don't cripple the 13". with this rumor it is starting to seem unlikely that they will bump the macbook to core 2 duo any time soon
-
I could see it being offered for about 1500. A sweet price point for those who want a 15" without paying double the 13.3" cost. If it has the santa rose and the new integrated card, that would be awesome.
I'd rather get that then pay $2000 for a unit wiht a graphic card I really won't take much advantage of.
Yeah, they should really make the black & white MB the same price. -
Maybe the chassis wont be made out of alloy, and that would shrink the price tag (n the price) but still keeping the spec of the macbook pro.
-
Kind of makes you wonder if Apple will pull the contract on FoxConn now, this is obvisually part of Apples secrets, and I believe Apple won't have a problem doing it either.
-
I think this is a great idea. One of my only beefs with the MBP is that battery life is so low. Half of that is due to the screen, but the other half is due to the power hungry GPU. I'd rather have a GPU-less 15 inch Macbook than an MBP just for the extra battery life. Plus I like both the black and the white better than the aluminum color.
-
Well the Rev B MBP supposedly has improved battery life over the Rev A.
-
I personally would rather have a unit with the integrated video card in the Santa Rose platform.
So effectivly, we'd probably see about 90 minute gain in battery life. Considering the MB can push 6 hours with low brightness and wifi on. Add in the additional power it takes to supply a 15" screen... I'd say we could get a good 5.5 hours with low brightness. -
I wonder if theyll have a screen resoultion that is higher than WXGA and a good GPU for it, they can use the ATI X1300, its cheap, and miles better than teh GMA 950, I really hope theyll add in WXGA+ (1440 by 900) at least, then I may conisder it for my next laptop. In my opinion WXGA is like working in a closet, theres not enough screen real estate.

Based on all the different rumour sites and news sites, it looks like the 13.3 MacBook Core 1 Duo will be replaced with a 15.4" Core 2 Duo MacBook, and that we'll never see a 13.3" Core 2 Duo, ever. What does everyone think and/or speculate?
There is a sale on for a 13.3 Core Duo MacBook for $1199 CDN. If I'm trying to spend as little as possible, should I go for it, or wait for a $1200 CDN - ish laptop with a Core 2 Duo, or would I be waiting all the way till next year...? -
I doubt they will get rid of the 13.3". I think it is more likely that they will just add to the line, kinda like when they had a 12" and 14" iBook.
-
-
Maybe, but most probably they ll upgrade to C2D soon coz there's no reason to keep ordering Core Duos if the price is the same, unless they stock 2 much core duos last time.
-
No, there will most definently be a C2D MB. They wouldnt' continue to make a 32 bit processor laptop when leopard comes out. It wouldn't make sense!
"Hey, look! We've got Lepord out, but um... sorry, those who want a portable MB will have to use the 32 bit version"
Sorry, but no... they won't keep CD in MB longer than they have to.
15.4' Macbooks, no pros.
