So the 2.2ghz Refurbs dropped by another $200 bucks or so in the US apple store. This leaves a black book 2.2, 1gb ram, 160hd at $1049 vs the new white 2.4, 2gb ram, 120hd at $1299
Is this chip update on the macbook worth the $ vs a refurb 2.2? How much difference is it going to make. Internal graphics, fsb etc are not changing. Seems like grabbing the black refurb and bumping the memory myself would yield savings. I'm not really wanting to wait for the new chips to end up on refurb.

The 2.2 will be more than enough, and won't be a noticeable difference vs the slightly faster 2.4. Ram is cheap, so the 1gb of ram difference is not that big of a deal.

SaferSephiroth The calamity from within
The 2.4 has only 3mb L2 cache vs 4mb on the 2.2...
-
I noticed that. What is the impact?
-
Very minimal at best. The extra speed makes up for the lack of a measily mb of L2 cache.

Unknown for now, but testing is on going as we type. Early benchmarks show similar scores for the 2.2 vs the new 2.4. See macrumors for more information. -
I honestly doubt that. There is a difference between the T7500 and the T8300 (besides the version number). I believe the T8300 is comparable to the T7700. But how do the new "low" end model compares to the others in terms of graphics performance?

Well they still use the same GPU, so they should all still suck... lol. (when it comes to real-time 3D I mean.)
