I am planning on purchasing a new hard drive for my mid-2007 Macbook Pro. My MBP currently has a 120GB FUJITSU MHW2120BH, which runs at only 1.5Gb/s. However, the hard drive I want to purchase, Seagate Momentus 7200.4 runs at 3.0Gb/s. I don't know if there will be issues with this and if so, what are possible solutions? Thanks for your assistance.

it will work fine...

Is the 1.5/3.0 Dependant on the motherboard/cpu/monitor?

SATA II 1.5Gbps and 3.0Gbps are fully compatible with another. When it comes to mechanical hard drives, the SATA bus speed will hardly ever become saturated, so you will not notice a difference in performance between a 1.5Gbps bus and a 3.0Gbps bus.

Thanks for the responses. So when I install my new HDD, I can simply plug into the SATA cable without having to mess with jumpers?
A little off topic, but has anyone heard of the HITACHI Travelstar HD20500 IDK/7K. It's on sale at Newegg for $80, but I have never seen a listing on it. Here's the link:

Yep pretty nice drive. its a larger version of what the new MBP's use in many cases

I couldn't find any reviews or let alone any information anywhere even on the Hitachi website regarding this HDD. -
Hmm I may be wrong it looks like that series may be 12mm drives and they wont fit in a unibody at all.
UPDATE, it is a 9 mm and should fit download spec sheet at the link below
Odd that I cant find the exact spec on it at hitachi either but normally hitachi drives are good as long as you dont let them get too warm... their 3.5" drives leave alot to be desired though
FOUND it
