All those who have a 2010 MBP and a 3rd party SSD, please try setting up bootcamp and let us know if it works.

Has anyone successfully setup bootcamp on any of the new macbook pros? When I use boot camp assistant, I am able to set up the partitions. However, once I enter the windows 7 install, it doesn't detect any partitions at all (not even my mac partition).

I've tried both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 (home, prof, and ultimate). The SSD is an Intel X25-V 40GB

UPDATE 1: Swapped the stock HDD back in and bootcamp install seems to work fine. Partitions were immediately recognized by my windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. Could Apple have blocked support for 3rd party SSDs somehow with these 2010 MBPs?

I have not recieved any of my 2010 models yet, hopefully in the next day or 2.

    1 it IS possible.

2 it is also possibile is they mucked up their firmware again and any drives with specific features or interfaces are not recognized. I used to have this issue in some of the Mac Pros back in the late 90's.

3 they may have to release an updated bootcamp to account for a new disk controller or interface that yours does not see. ( common back when SATA started taking over from PATA drives.

yes i think number 3 is the issue. seems like just a simple storage driver issue

I admit #3 is strange though since all my Intel SSD's seem to be recognized by EVVERY other sata machine I have in inventory with a generic driver, I wonder what they may have done to the disk controller or firmware to need a different driver

That would be odd since their laptops come with SSD or HDD options.

If they do not allow you to delete cals from the call log in the Iphone then no 2nd or 3rd party application will be allowed to do so. Perhaps this SSD thing is the same. If you don't get one from them then you can't get one from a second or 3rd party source..

3rd party SSDs have always worked fine (for the most part), so i doubt they've changed that.

and why can't you delete calls from your call log on the iPhone? I can blank mine out easily.

I installed a Vertex SSD in my Macbook Pro 15" and it works great with no issues. Would be sad if one was unable to upgrade in the new Macbook Pros.

Under recents for the Iphone you have all and missed. How do you delete one or two calls without deleting the whole list?

Well you can remove calls, like I said.. blank them. Didn't know you meant individual calls leaving others intact... which I don't see a reason for unless your trying to hide something from someone, and blanking the whole list looks suspect. I don't know of any way to remove just one entry from the list, its just a call log.

so far, people with the 15" and 17" MBPs have been able to successfully install 3rd party SSDs into their systems. Anyone with the new 13" MBP try yet?

I thought the problem was my Intel X25-V not being compatible, so I went out and got an Intel X25-M 80GB G2 that has been confirmed working by others on the new 15 and 17" MBP. Set up everything as normal and the same exact problem occurred; bootcamp partition successfully configured in OSX, but once you get into the Windows 7 installer, no drives are detected. At this point, I think there is a problem with 3rd party SSDs and the new 13" MBP. If anyone can confirm this for me, that would really help.

I plan on getting a 15" i5 MBP the middle of May and will Boot Camp Windows 7 also.

Are you using 32bit or 64bit Win7? From what I've seen in the Boot Camp Assistant is it asks for a 32 bit Windows disk. Is that the problem maybe?

no, it shouldn't be a problem. i tested with 64 bit win 7 on the stock hdd and it works fine.

Yup firmware updated to newest version (2HD). After a couple of failed attempts of recognizing the drive, it all of a sudden started working. Although I was able to install win7 on bootcamp, there is still a problem with recognizing the bootcamp partition: if you set bootcamp to reboot into windows, you may get a flashing folder with a question mark on it. this indicates that the machine still can't see the windows partition for whatever reason. if you turn the machine off and on again, it will start working. NOTE THAT IS IS ONLY FOR THE NEW 13" MBP.

    very strange...

yes i am getting the 13" and the 160GB intel SSD gen2
if i experience the same issues then the solution might be a 'software update away' from apple

'but that will be like an absolution which might never come'

Maybe it's just a new surprise from brand new nVidia chipset?
