I will potentially be purchasing a 2011 macbook pro 13", that apparently doesn't display anything on the LCD and remains black. You can hear it chime and turn on, but nothing shows up on the LCD. No physical damage is evident. What do you guys think the issue could be? Is it worth the 150$ i may purchase it for?

I would say no. The problem could be caused by any number of things, all of which could potentially cost hundreds of additional dollars, be it a new display, logic board, or whatever.

I have to second the leave it. it could easily be logic board damage which can run you over half the cost of a refurb with warranty

Can you plug it into an external monitor?
That should tell you if it's the lcd or something more serious.
