    Hi all,

Anyone have experience with both the 2017 2.9 and 3.1ghz 15” rMBP? Specifically, I’m wondering about actual performance difference. I’ve read some posts which indicate that, due to throttling, the 3.1 actually has lower performance than the 2.9. Is this true? Honestly I mainly play WoW and it is quite CPU dependent so I want to make the right purchase decision.

    Thanks,
    Mario

My advice is to buy a PC and create a Hackintosh system if you need Mac OS. Or alternatively, buy the 2015 MBP. The new model is not worth it. All of them have throttling issues, and even a repaste is not enough to fix it. Take a look on Google and try to find some images of the heat sink of the 2016/17 MBP. It is smaller than the heat sink on some netbooks - completely inadequate to cool the laptop down. Apple's heat sinks have always been garbage but the latest ones take the piss.

Thanks Arrrrbol. Do you know of a PC laptop with equivalent form factor, screen, speakers and battery life? Should I hold out for the Surface Book 2?

I'd wait around and see the user reviews for the Surface Book 2. It definitely looks more powerful than the MBP though.
