So earlier this year the original battery in my black MacBook died on me. Machine is out of warranty, but took it in to the Apple store anyway, and they ended up replacing it for free. Well THIS battery only has 40 load cycles on it, and it looks like its dead now too. MagSafe adapter plugged in, green light, battery indicating its not charging. I've pulled the battery out, checked pins on the power adapter (hooked it up on a friends MacBook to be sure it wasnt the adapter, and it did charge). You guys think there might actually be something wrong with the machine itself?

It can also depend on what your battery charging/discharging habits are.

If you have no charge indicator on your machine but do on your friends machine it is possible the charging circuit in your machine is FUBAR, I have an old blackbook that way

That would stink...hopefully its not a costly fix. I'm kinda partial to this one

If you have an Apple store close by wander in and let them know and have them take a peek ( if you dont have an oscilliscope and knowhow handy )... if it is the charge circuit like mine the fix is a whole new mobo... so NOT a cheap fix.

Yeah, I'm hoping its just the battery. I use this one when I travel, and I'd hate to have to keep it on the charger. But, I guess that would be incentive to get a replacement uni-MBP

Hmm That does seem unusual, my mac is on arround 130 charge cycles and is still full capacity (after calibration) and seems to be fine, i think this may be somthing to do with your laptop rather then the battery.
40 load cycles??? Really???
