I only use 1 printer and doesn't use any language localizations, but the extra printer drivers and language took a total of more than 4GB+. Can I safely delete these printer drivers? They are in Macintosh HD -> Library -> Printers. I assume I can just drag the folder and put it in the Trash Can.

For the language localization, where are this located and can I delete them like I delete the printer drivers?

Yes. When you do a fresh install you can also choose not to install them :)

My MBP is quite new (just 1 month old), so I don't think I'll do a fresh install anytime soon.

If I choose to install individual printer drivers that I have deleted, how do I do this? Just download from manufacturers website?

BTW, where's the language localizations files?

I'm also interested in this. Does anyone know where the language files are? I'd love to clear up some space. Thanks!

I believe there is an application called Xslimmer that does this. I don't believe it's free. :\

I don't think that will work, as it prompts you to restart the computer when you launch the Mac OS X Installer and will attempt to do either an Archive and Install or an Erase and Install.

To the OP, you should be able to remove the printer drivers at the location you specified. As far as the languages go, I believe a tool called Monolingual will allow you to do this, and it's free.

Excellent! The Monolingual program works awesome! It's a bit tedious though, because the Readme file state that I must be careful when removing Roman-type language and other architecture, which by default were selected when the program started. Thus, I have uncheck those one by one.

I am not sure why the kanji language (Chinese, Japanese, etc.) were NOT selected by the program and these are actually the ones taking some of the most space.

If you want to reinstall any drivers that you removed, get Pacifist, insert your Mac OS X disc, and find the printer drivers file.
