Hardmac.com : Le "Macbidouille" in English - How to activate TRIM on any SSD
-
One of the most striking admissions at the end of the article.
I read the article, and came away thinking the same thing. Just because you alter the reporting feature, it doesn't follow that you have made any operational changes. I can make my XP windows netbook appear to be running XP Pro, instead of XP Home by making changes in the registry, but it does not mean I can then use XP Pro's backup features. -
If you read the comments of the article you will find a comment by a user called armdn:
But I have no idea where he got the info. -

Got it setup on my SSD as well. Hopefully it actually works.
-
I notice that boot time is longer but working is a bit faster.

Can't vouch for this, don't have an SSD, you're on your own, etc:

There is apparently no need use a hex editor, this is a script. -
Thx for the script! i was to scared to try the hex editor :C but i can confirm that the script works! trim = yes in SP!
only issue was that after applying the patch, i had to hold the power button to reboot, because the restart or shut down didn't respond via the apple menu... it made me nervous but after starting up my MBP 2011 '13 it reboots and shuts down fine. -
I applied the hack to my crucial drive and uncached writes went up about 10%
edit: Which may be due to anything as I've made a lot of system changes since last benchmark.
